Any fellow roadies kicking off their winter training schedules? I'm still doing my commuting on my FCR 1 (30 miles a day) plus 3 days a week of 1 hour at least on Bianchi 928 C2C on a turbo trainer.

I can only get out 2 days a week now:( 1hr per day on the trainer for the rest of the week.

erm one question.... have bought a new front tire for my bike.. and i've been out yesterday and like 5mins later my front wheel slipped so bad i've slammed into a curb with my knee... so is there anything to get the tire grip better while it's still new? i wont be ridding for at least a week now.. :/ the tires them self are good once worn a bit.. but there has too be some kind of a trick ? or should i just swap the rear tire on front wheel (which is already used and grips well) and the new one on the rear? which would obviously give me more control..

Soo... I'm still looking for a bike.

Which is the better bike out of the below for a daily commute and also able to handle a bit of leisurely fun?

Stupid question but did you put the tyre on the right way? Also, could it have been an unlucky patch of gravel or the tyre itself itself isn't actually of sufficient quality? I've noticed some tyres do slip a little when brand new but 5 minutes riding on conctrete usually sorts that.

Personally the Cannondale looks to be better specced. Whether that means better performance I wouldn't know. The Rockhopper is nice looking though but I'd spend a little more and get the Pro Disc.

yes i did :) no the tire is good quality as i have been using them for a while.. but i have always replaced rear tire only... i guess ill need to ride a bit more carefully till the tire gets the grip.. :) as it is still all shiny like a plastic.. that's why it slipped...
