Was going over a bridge and no space on the left so meant to go over onto the other side , car in front slowed down and my reactions/brakes obviously weren't quick enough!

Managed to unclip one foot so didn't actually come off my bike, so got off lucky I think - will teach me to be more careful in the future!

Little question for you. Since I sold my Enduro Sworks 06 frame, I have regretted it. big time :(

I was on the bay and there is a Cube 09 (nearly new)AMS frame going for about £400ish notes. Now I love the look of the Cube bike, but the question is as the travel is only 100mm (RP23) I have Revelations 2010 140mm for the front. Problem??

How much roughly should I be looking at paying to get a spoke nipple replaced and a wheel trued? The rockhopper's got a snapped nipple, can't work out how, not ridden it in ages

Rode Mynydd Du Forest in the Brecon Beacons yesterday. 32k with high winds and lots and lots of rain and flooding. To think South Wales didn't get the worst of it! :o Opted for the much drier Brechfa today.

All fun

I've been looking at new bikes for a while now (see here) and was going to buy one back in september but didn't have the money in the end. That's about to be sorted now but it does mean I've missed out on the 09 Cube bikes. however, the advantage being that instead of them only being available to me online my LBS (UKCyclestore/Samways) is stocking 2010 Cube bikes this year for the first time. I phoned them up earlier and they have the Reaction RX in stock and on display.

Obviously I'll be popping there after work tonight to check it out and its apparently my size too, 17.5".

What I'm after is obviously your thoughts on this bike but would like to know if it were you buying it, what would you be asking the people in store? A £1400 purchase is a lot and a one-off for me and want to make sure I cover everything.

It's either this:
Cube Reaction RX 2010

Or this:

Focus Black Forest Pro

Cheers.

Yeah, but is over £500 more expensive

I will most likely go for it if it feels right as I'll have the peace of mind that should anything go wrong the shop is just around the corner from me.

Ah yeah, I should have mentioned that. I just like the look of the Focus but of course I'd rather a better spec bike, oh and the fact I hate spending too much money :D

Any reason you haven't considered a full susser? At £1400 you are into Spesh FSR / Pitch territory, Giant trance, Trek Fuel territory. I noticed you mentioned Cannock Chase but how much do you think you are going to get into mountain biking? Are you going to be riding with friends? A full susser could turn out to open more options for you later.

Don't get me wrong, I started on a hardtail, even bought a few others since :) and ride them everywhere but my full susser gets used much more.

To answer your question, I would be looking at 4 things in this priority order: frame, suspension, wheels, brakes. Everything else can/will be upgraded over time at less cost.

Did you go down the DH track? Is the rode gap still there?
