Omg was probably going to order that today but the 20% deal has ended, now i'm going to have to settle for an inferior bike, typical

Does anyone have any other suggestions ?

edit: probably going for this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_512541_langId_-1_categoryId_165499 now, anything else better for the price before i click? :)

Hey 6th - can you recommend any US based e-tailers that are selling the Troy lee D3 lid?
The bat out of hell (Mother in law) is off to the US and will be willing to bring me back two.

The retail here for £450 and over there for $450!!
So i think I want to buy a couple and sell one on to recoup some funds

I can only see them listed in one store I've used before, but they say available in December so not a distinct availability date. www.go-ride.com I've only used them once for a frame. None of my usual stores even have the D3 listed yet.

Heres a crap pic of my hardtail i chucked together for today and my mates new bmx.

I find this colour both offensive and awesome at the same time.
I do have a frame to respray soon... If it ends up weird purple, it's your fault...

Who's doing student champs this year then?

I want to do both the downhill and xc champs but not sure if AE will be as forgiving on my ht as bikepark was :(

We shall see!
Im planning on going (as long as the indoor snowsports champs dont fall on the same weekend - im sure they wont)
I'll be doing both DH and XC.

Never been to AE before tho, whats it like?

It looks more purple than pink in decent light I'd say. It's quite cool to be honest,I did **** him off for most of the day though. Don't know why purple is such an in colour justnow on BMXs.

Continuing my monstercross interest at the moment, loved this one posted on MTBR:

Supercow, I'll send you a D3 helmet of your choice if you'll send me a Singular Peregrine frame :D

Wiggle are doing £10 off orders over £50 and £20 off orders over £100 atm in case anyone's not seen. Had a £100 basket sitting there for a few days so perfect timing :D

Fellas, I'm after a new chainset. My current Truvativ that came as stock on my Marin is flexy as hell and I've had enough of it.

I'm looking to spend about £150 including rings, and I've narrowed it down to these two:

RaceFace Deus XC

Shimano SLX

The Shimano is obviously a decent price at the moment and I've heard good things, but the RaceFace is helluva sexy.

I ride XC, but at 15 stone it needs to be pretty strong. I've heard bad things about the RaceFace bottom brackets, do I have to go with theirs or are there other options?

Also, 170mm arms or 175? What are the benefits of going shorter?

I've got the Deus on my Giant, not had any problems yet, and its very pretty (the machining is beautiful) but you're right, the Raceface BBs have got a terrible rep for not lasting long.

Advantage of shorter cranks is just clearance I think?

So do you have to run a RaceFace BB with their cranks? I'm assuming they're splined?

Do you have a RaceFace BB on your Giant andi? If so, how long have you had it and how's it holding up?

I think you should be able to use other BBs, Raceface say the X-Type is interchangable with at least the Shimano stuff, I was under the impression anything Hollowtech II would work, but I'm sure someone else will confirm or deny that..

I've had the bike about 4 months now, and so far so good, although i've haven't done that much mileage on it. There was a thread on singletrackworld a few days ago with people claiming to have killed them in 3 months though :o

Things have changed quite a bit since I was into biking in the late 90's! It was all square tapered cranks & BB's back then.

So I take it there's no standard for the new splined cranks & BB's then? I've been looking at the Shimano BB's which are called Octalink, which I guess fits their cranks but not all others?
