Best Whip ever - Sam Hill, Fort William 2009

Nah, as much as i think Sam is an amazing rider, he cant jump or whip for ****. He was lucky he didnt crash after that as well..

Isnt it a degreaser tho? (same as WD40) So it will break up any other lube on your chain?

answered already...

Well, WD40 is a water dispersant, degreaser and a mild (poor) lubricant, so it essentially flushs all the existing lubricant out of your chain and then barely relubricates it, with the small amount of lubrication it does offer being easily washed off in wet conditions.

It would appear that GT85 also includes teflon, so may be a better lubricant than WD40 but still dubious IMO.

I know I've mentioned this before but looking for a broader set of responses :)

Been looking at these for a starter DH bike:

Anyone got any thoughts on them? Both seem about the right price compared to others I've seen. Also, what other used bikes should I be looking at ? With a max budget of around £600...

How much downhilling/riding have you/do you do at the moment?

Well atm I ride a Kona hardtail XC bike, which I've been riding for a few months now at every given opportunity. Thing is I was originally going to get a DH bike but couldn't really afford it at the time, however I'll soon be able to.

I've ridden the local DH trails quite a few times and borrowed a friends bike a couple of times, and am hooked. Now I just want my own bike to take it up properly as a second style to my XC riding :)

Well, no, it hasnt really been answered....
All that Burned_Alive said about GT85 was that it included teflon. I always thought GT85 was a degreaser the same as WD40 but im not so sure anymore?

When I put wet finish line on the chain, after about 30k of riding in this rain the chain is GUNKED up.
So nothing is really working in this wet weather, obviously depending on the type of riding. So all I do is spray the chain with the hosepipe and apply GT85 on a DRY chain (dry with a rag) the chain hasnt gone rusty and still works perfectly. Its a SRAM 991 if that matters.
LBS said GT 85 or similar BUT NOT wd40 would be fine.

hello guys, is it worth it to get some cheap slick tires(as in £20-30 for a pair) for my mountain bike considering it will only be used for commuting and not offroad?
the way I see it there should be a lot less resistenace and easier to ride, is there something I'm not taking into consideration?

If you only ride your bike on roads then it is a good idea, as you said - less rolling resistance = faster for less effort.
But keep in mind that slicks obviously have no grip in wet grass/mud so you'll need to change tyres every time you want to go offroad.

Hey 6th, any idea of a MTB shop in Washington where I can get a D3 from?
My mom in law couldn't find one when she went over, but I have a mate whos going there tomorrow.

State or DC? :P

The D3's don't really seem to be out there yet in any of the online stores, just at go ride with availability from tomorrow and they're based in Utah.

No hurry, thought I'd get myself a Xmas prezzie. He's going out there again January and February, and they will most likely be more readily available then.

Signed up for the Bealach Mor sportif today :)
It's not till september so i'v got plenty of time to get fit. (and hopefully get a new bike as well)
