I just blast the seat with the pressure washer.
No need for Muc off imo, when fairy will do the same thing :)

I think the XT's will suit you just fine

I've got the Racefaces atm, and theres nothing wrong with them, and they do look nicer than the XT (prefer the looks of the SLX or XTR) but I'd go with the Shimano.

*** Spangly alert ***

My new frame :) 2009 Santa cruz heckler, got a good deal at Evans cycles.

Hopefully get it built up this weekend and will have some more piccys then.

For the price differential I'd go with SLX (and I did).
Yeah I like the look of SLX, need to see them all in the flesh before I make a decision. I've read that SLX are stronger than XT and more or less the same weight too which is a bonus.

pull2828 - that's veeeeeeery nice... How much is a "good deal" exactly? *edit* - if only I had £1200 :(

Well it retailed at £1200, got 10% at Evans through their sale, then got 5% cashback discount through a friends work. Worked out at paying £1025 for the frame. Plus i got an added bonus of some tools and a shock pump with it which i wasn't expecting.

Its a Medium, spec is going to be:

Heckler Frame
Marzocchi All mountain SL forks running at 150mm
Juicy 5's
Mavic ex729's on xt's
Shimano Hone cranks
MRP sb-3
Sunline V1 bars and stem

Most of that came of my sx trail so it's a bit FR/DH orientated at the moment but should come in at around 34lbs and hopefully light enough for me to slog up before thrashing down :)

Should be a nice all rounder! Only reason I asked whether it was a small is that the down tube is welded directly to the top tube with no insert piece which the mediums used to have must be a change they made for 09.

Must have done, it sas M on it so i'm presume many people can't be that stupid for it. I will check it now you've mentioned it before i start whacking all the parts on it.

Yeah ive had the 729's for a few years now, 721's are on the weight wishlist if its too heavy to get round.. otherwise il stick with the 729's. I struggle to get uphill normally due to my lacking fitness so best to have it set for maximum fun going downhill.
