Yeah ive had the 729's for a few years now, 721's are on the weight wishlist if its too heavy to get round.. otherwise il stick with the 729's. I struggle to get uphill normally due to my lacking fitness so best to have it set for maximum fun going downhill.

The trust me on the Stans Flow ZTR option mate.
Sen them last 3 weeks in France on a DH bike, with minimal damage are much lighter than 721's :)

Im a mavic man and just bought myself Hope Pro2 on 721s! Cant beat them, bang for buck! Out of interest how much is an XT wheel set? You can get a front and rear hope wheelset for £250 if you look hard enough. You do know 721s are lighter than 729 dont you?

Yeah i've had the 729's for about 5 years there still going strong, cost me about £120 when i got them. I'm not really a weight weenie as such as long as i can pedals it up the weight isn't a problem for me. Should be building it up tomorrow night so stand by for some full build pics

The XT wheels are amazingly light. The only issue is you'd have to buy the adapters to convert to 6bolt rotors. I've been running 729s on my dh bike and see them as overkill I'm sure 721s would be fine. Weren't the 721s better due to the square profile? I'm sure I read that pete ran 729/721 painted yellow like deemax as my mate bought them from him/someone close to him.

It has very very slightly, IIRC the pinchbolts on the pivot bearing have been replaced with a bolt through system.

If you have a look at this shot http://kmh.mizuonline.com/reviews/imgs/20070120/heckler2007b.jpg you can see the gap above the pivot axle for the pinch bolts to close on. Pull's Heckler frame has none. Was revised as people were complaining about bolts shearing and cracks appearing in that area.

Ah yes I see, not heard of that issue before will check mine out now! They must have removed the gusset piece from between the top and bottom tube also for this year looks much better!

I wouldn't be able to resist it tbh!

Haven't even insured it yet. The RRP of all parts is in the region of £5,000, the frame retailed for just below 3K, groupset is another 1K plus bars etc etc, looking at insurance prices on par with a car. Most places don't insure above £4k. The frame is very rare, they only made a handful in 2007, the manufacturer recognises the build, spoke to them in Italy yesterday.

Might take it on the Surrey Rumble in March for its debut run outside.

got a budget of 400 to about 550, Whats the best i can get for that range, had a look around evnas cycles as its the only place i know of but tbh im a bit clueless

Basically i want a decent hardtail, good front forks and a lot of gears

Any help would be amazing :)

Have a look at Merlin Cycles. Think they are still doing some deals, plus they get good reviews from the magazines.

Went out for a ride earlier, was a bit too deep, but had fun hucking off this drop either way :D

oh wow didn't realise it was a rare frame! In that case I'd put it up on the wall :D can you not get it done on your house insurance?

4K max through M&S, also wary it is a custom bike! Might go through E&L, Cycleguard are a rip off, I used to have 3 bikes on Cycleguard for £50pm, E&L had same terms for £28pm.

Should be a nice bike Pull2808. 34lbs is heavy for an air shocked Heckler though. My old Coil shocked Heckler was 34lbs in its burly state, my new Heckler is 30lbs with coil, and a reasonably strong build.

True. There is also a UK seal kit for the older design. The new design should hold up better to UK conditions. Some people were braking bolts without even jumping/doing drops. Heckler number 2 1/2 is holding up fine for me so far...touch wood.

I think it will come in closer to 33lbs than 34 as im changing the tyres, most parts have come off my SX so are quite heavy duty parts so will have to wait and see. Its half built but need some spank white pedals.. Idea's guys?? Got some white grips for it today. Gonna get it all sorted and fine tuned over the weekend and nice and clean.
