On the subject of pedals, anyone had any experience with Straiteline's? I know they're good but just want some personal opinions.

My V12's feel too small under my feet, I'm looking for a larger platform

Don't get the straitlines, get these in stead.
Same big platform, same concave design

Lighter
More durable
Easier to service
CHEAPER

Better in every way.

Do you have those pedals? I'm looking at some reviews now.

I know superstar are good but I've only had experience with their brakepads nothing as substantial as pedals.

Yeap I have them. Feel the same under foot as the Straitlines.

A few of my mates have swapped to Superstar pedals from Straitlines.

The bike on the left has them on

I got Sunline V1, Crank Bro 50/50, V8/V12s and the best pedals i use are Wellgos! Im seriously tempted with either the superstar or new outland pedals as i wanna try get my Session down to 35lbs..

Its here...I call it the ROI Monster Dura Ace...£5000 worth of bike...I didnt pay that though, got it barely used from a chap for 1.5K, just got it back from my bike mechanic and passed with flying colours :D

ROI Monster Frame, Dura Ace 7800 all over (except FSA K-Force Carbon Megaexo crank), Zefiro K-38 Carbon clincher wheels, FSA Pro Carbon drop bars, San Marco saddle) I have never felt a bike this light...

Supercow, how do you find your XT cranks mate? Thinking of upgrading my Truvativs and I'm torn between XT and RaceFace (XT being cheaper!)

Also, I've yet to fit it but I've bought a white and grey SDG Bel Air seat, how do you keep yours clean? Or do you just keep your ass in the way so it never gets dirty :p.

Hey mate, I would absolutely recommend them to anybody.
They are noticeably better than the Shimano SLX (which is a bit cheaper still) and are nice and stiff. They are very light and easy to install too.
I only have experience with the Raceface FR cranks (very similar to the AM cranks, which I’m assuming you are referring to) which are just as , I’m not convinced you need to RF above the XT based on your application (AM/XC use?)

The XT’s are even good enough for DH use and some bike companies have started to make their Bottom Bracket’s smaller in order for light but tough cranksets such as the XT’s to fitt.
Take for example one of the premium DH bikes this year, comes with XTR’s as standard on the full build.

So depending on how big Chris really is… I’d go for the cheaper option.

I'm 6'5 and 15stone/95kg so need something fairly tough, but don't want them to be too heavy. The SLX look nice but you can get XT for not much more, I might look into them more seriously after what you said.RF Deus XC 09 is £135 from CRC, but I've heard bad things about their BB's.How about your nice white saddle too? Is it new or do you have some magic cleaner?

Race Face BB's are awful! and will not last more than a few months use, I keep my saddle white with muc off seems to bring anything off it. I have a Race Face Atlas AM and it is very robust but and reasonably light for its strength but it is heavier than an XT
