surprised at all the MG 1 recommendations in here. i wouldnt trust em for anything more than XC or very very light freeride. the bodys are too thin and the bearings/bushes are FAR too small. they grind away like cheese

ive broke the outer bearings a couple of times (second time caused the axle too crack through the body:( and have seen many cracked bodys

stick with the classic wellgo/dmr's or one of the lighter bmx brands pedals!

very tempted to give these a go http://www.alansbmx.com/product_inf...=9073&osCsid=8a46a71140fb42c9a633837e495cd806

I use Welgo pedals on the DH bike. Found them fine so far, including smashing them into the ground more times than i can remember!

I don't like to be clipped in on a mountain bike. Clipped in is fine for the road (I have a set of shoes and pedals for the roadie).

I also have a set of Jim Cielincki Odyssey Pedals on my GT so I may swap them over or buy some new ones...

Where can I buy a bigger set of balls?

Im running Time Z Freeride on my KHS, clipped in for the uphills and easy downhill bits, but a big enough platform that i can unclip when needed. Plus i can ride the bike in trainers.

I'm heading over to cannock chase next week for my first proper off road ride in nearly a year, really looking forward to it. Especially now my fitness is much improved

Hmmm I could get another pair of the Odyssey pedals for around £30 from my LBS. I do need a proper set of flats though. Landings on those silly half-and-half pedals are just wrong...

could try the clienicki trailmix version. lighter than the originals as theyre aimed at bmx dirt jumping rather thanstreet riding. should still be easily strong enough for MTB riding

Be aware that a couple of sections are closed (including one of my favourite bits the rock garden) whilst Stage 2 is finished. Hopefully by the end of March as I'm itching to give it a go.

Also the rain, mud and snow earlier in the year has washed a lot of the soil away and the course has lots of exposed rocks and tree routes so is very slippy. In fact that's what had me off as I washed out on a tight berm and my front end slipped.

I also use Wellgo MG1 pedals. I've had them on since last April and smacked them on a good number of rocks, they've remained intact and they're still smooth, can't really complain for the price.

Yea I seen there are a few sections closed when I check the site earlier, bit of a bummer but hopefully il be there a bit over the next few months so il be around when there back open.
Cheers for the advice sounds like it'l be a fun little ride, my mate has a habit of being a bit kamakarzi anyway so that should add to my amusement :D

I was giving it some beans. You know barley getting round corners, getting some air time of the jumps, attacking the climbs and lo and behold some 65 year old catches me up on a quick break and then leaves me eating his dust.

What a dude. I want to be like that when I'm old.

Oh and I also got overtook by a guy on an On One singlespeed. He didn't even bat an eyelid and the climb that had me in the granny gears...

The last time I was over there I got overtaken on one of the fire road type uphill bits by a small child on what looked like some sort of halfords special kids bike.
I wanted to cry :o

I think the guy on the singlespeed may have had rigid forks but he went past so fast I couldn't notice...

I've never been overtaken at Cannock, until last Sunday when a guy decked out in full XC Giant gear was itching to get by. I held with him for a while, heart rate hit 190, but knowing I wanted to do another 2 laps had to let him go.

There is always someone quicker.
