haha, I guess it is mate yeah. But just because something is hard doesnt nessisarily mean its tedious and arduous, which is the case with most Black runs i've encounted and why I overall enjoy Red runs a lot more :D.

Fair enough :)
Which black runs are you referring to (tedious ones that is), as I have to admit that pretty much all the black runs ive done in the UK are rarher short.

Welcome to the thread/forum by the way.

Thetford Forests Black run and Coed Llandegla Forests Black run spring to my mind as being less fun than the Red runs (although the scenery at Coed Llandegla was amazing), but I have to say that Aston Hill's Black run is very fun. I'm eager to see what Cwncarn's will be like...

Thanks for the welcome by the way :D.

Also been improving my fitness with this, :p
Which trainer is that? Been looking to get one for a while - just can't find one that I like.

I personally loved Coed Llandegla - haven't been back since they have put the new stuff in (I hear of a 4x track). I loved the black runs there though - they seem to have drummed it down a tad though. Had my first crash / off in Llandegla on my last day up there. Nice hospital :D

Afan is superb and Coed y Brenin isn't too bad... although a bit tame in places. Cyflym Coch (sp?) is brilliantly smooth and fast though.

Going to be doing the Cwmcarn DH and Xc stuff next weekend.
:)

Cycle Ops Fluid 2, hunted around for a while on the net and choose with one. Its had some decent reviews.

I went for a Tacx Flow, great trainer. However, I find getting motivated to actually doing anything on it is the most difficult part. I'd rather be out there on the road clocking the miles up than sat indoors on the Flow watching MTV. :D

Also, on a side note - Following on from my earlier posts within this thread, I got refused a Cyclescheme voucher for my Cube Acid. My employer has decided that we should wait 3 years between getting a Cyclescheme voucher. I got my Pinarello back in August 2008 so I now need to wait until September 2011 before I am allowed another voucher. Really annoying. And our Occ Health dept keep telling us we should look to maintain our fitness etc, hardly a way to encourage it if you won't give Cyclescheme vouchers out??!!!.

Anyway, I'm still quite keen on grabbing a Cube Acid so I'm looking at 0% finance deals online now. ;)

Llandegla black runs are very tame to be honest; nothing technically challenging, just BMX track type single track.

The most challenging black run I have done is Innerleithen - part of the 7Stanes network. The Razor Rock black section on the XC trail is super gnarly and the Downhill section at the end is scary fast.

Inners black is up there with Laggan double black. Great trails. A lot of trails in the UK have black grading for the sake of it.

Inners XC trail is the best route I've ever done; tough (but awesome) climbing, awesome views from the top and silly fast downhill. I can't wait to get up there again.

Yeah that is kind of annoying, I am sacrificing my voucher this year for my girlfriend to get a Planet X SL Pro with Ultegra 6700 in pink.

I also find it boring to turbo train, though I put a decent amount of commuting mileage to make up for.

Been commuting on the Bianchi C2C 928 yesterday and today whilst the Wilier is getting Ultegra SL fitted, gotta say it's brilliant for commuting!

PS I used to live in Falkirk until 2002, then moved to London for uni/work! I used to stay next to the ambulance depot, and went to St Mungo's ;)

Now that I'm commuting on a steel frame fixie I'm beginning to see the comfort limitations of my Alu 7005 Roadie and I think it's time to make the change to carbon.

I don't see the point of getting a whole new bike, I may as well shift my wheels and 105 groupset ofver to a new frame. However, there is so much choice; every time I look at a bike site I see at least three frames that I want from between £500 and £1500.

I think I should go and have a cyclefit so at least I can get some recommendations that have some reasoning other than 'It looks sexy' behind it.

I may actually go down the Viner route and get something custom....

Carbon makes a hell of a difference, been commuting on Alu, Alu with Carbon stays and full carbon, it is more comfortable.

Viners are nice, I was close to getting one. There is a supply issue though isn't there at the moment?

I'm probably in the market for one more bike for me for now, either a fixie or another carbon road bike (probably a PX)

The correct number of bikes is n+1......

By the end of the year I want my stable to be:

Station Pig
Steel Fixie
Ti Winter Bike (very interested in Roastie's Such Bikes on BR)
Carbon Road
Carbon TT
Bamboo Fixie
Alu Winter Road

I need a bigger garage....

If I do I would be looking at a made to measure frame so I'd be happy to wait.

haha, you need to diversify a bit. Get some MTBs in there!

Haha agreed! In reality I want a fixie & another carbon road bike by end of the year. Missus has bitten the bug too, we've only just ordered her one and she wants more!

Pffft. The Winter Ti will be a CX with disc brakes and that's as close as I'm getting to MTBs; the wheels are too small.

Yeah, but we make up for it in girth, which I'm reliably informed, is more important.
