I'm still not understanding the wider rubber in the rear ^^ .o?

Why not? Its increased the rolling radius of the tyre.. Hasnt effected handling.. :) Also the rolling radius isnt bigger than the 26inch with the 2.5..

also will give more grip than the front tyre, so when cornering the front is more likely to wash out which means game over :p but if the back was to go you can generally catch it

Im running 2.5 comp 16 on the front with a 2.2 comp 16 on the rear

Thinking of getting a bike bag to take the bike out to Morzine this summer, either of these any good?

dhb bag

chain reaction bag

Anyone used one of these? Gotta fit a Scott Ransom 30 in there with some other kit.

Ive not used either of those but as far as i know the chainreaction bag is just a rebadged Neil pryde bag which ive heard are very good.
I use the Planet X bag, is nicely padded and good quality but doesnt have seperate wheel bags, they go in pockets inside the bag. Im more than happy with it and fits my v10 with 888s in fine :) Though the bag doesnt have wheel so lugging it about is a pain, but then that does save weight of the bag ;)

does anyone else rarely use the rear brakes?, ive been riding for years, had many bikes, but find little use for using rear brakes, only use front ones??

or am i just weird.......?

You use the rear brake to scrub off a bit of speed when hooning it, hitting the front brake while going down the side of a mountain could cause problems, seeing as you steer from the front.

what about commuting, still worth using???, i dont find any use at all of the rear brakes commuting?

The rear brake is very handy in any slippery condition, I use it all the time off-road and road. You don't want to hit the front brake while leaned over or over manhole covers/diesel spills etc.

any gloves any1 can reccomend?

I'm using these at the moment and quite like them. They are well vented which is what you need now the weather is getting warmer. I always use a long finger glove even during summer as I wouldn't like to be wearing fingerless gloves in a crash :)

what do you guys wear for biking on XC trails??
pics and links would be helpfull =D

thanks

As the weather is getting warmer you will be wanting a pair of shorts. I've used the Endura Humvee and Zyme and would reccomend them both. You can get them in a 3/4 length too if you don't want to show off your knees :D For your top half it's best to have a cycling jersey made out of a fast wicking material. Wearing jeans and T shirt will leave you drenched in sweat for the rest of the ride after the first hill ;)

I just use Altura Night Visions at the moment (they're the only ones I've got :p) and they're pretty good for £20.

I just went out and did about 25 miles today over sand, mud and road in this lot:

Couldn't have been better really.

I did 20 miles of trails at Canock Chase in the Midlands today.
I could really do with some padded shorts - any recommendations ?
