I've just sold a road bike and my bmx to fund the giant!

Its quite satisfying rebuilding it (i have v.little knowledge about bike maintenance - so its a slow process)

Need to replace the handlebars, get a new front wheel, headset and it'll be road worthy!

My GT Avalanche 1.0 Disc. Pre modifications! ;)

Only a basic bike for me - Claud Butler Ravana. Does me OK for getting to work with the odd bit of offroad now and then :)

Had an interesting incident today :o

Was out on my bike, casual ride, everything perfect. Then i hear a thud, look down and my pedal & crank arm was on the floor.

Just after a service too

The ones that came with my Rockhopper Disc. Not sure of model on top of head.

Was not fun coming home, had to scoot it the whole way .. dint have a tool with me.

Not a good hour.

As far as i know its a shimano octalink system. Never had mine come loose ever. WIth Isis and powerspine once they are rounded they tend to keep failing until you replace them.

What condition is the BB spine in?

Its fine, they must have not fixed it on properly.

Ordering a new bike soon :) have to decide which though..

I had this happen with an old Square taper LX crank. LBS were mightely embarrased as they just fitted it the day before. Also snapped a chain the day it was fitted by another shop.:o

Yeah, i was an hour and a bit away from home :o

Had to sort of scoot it all the way, damn tiring.

Heres my Spesialised Hardrock Hyd. Disk. 2007.

Yes she's a bit heavy but i'm loving the handling of the bike. I think i'm going to change the tyres for some kevlar bead lightweight jobbies to save some weight and hopefully reduce the rolling resistance.

It's fully laiden in the top picture with mud guards, computer, water bottle and pump! Weighs a ton! :p It can still take off tho. :D

I had a hardrock, weighed too much for my liking.

The grips are terrible too.

I changed the wheels/tyres, got a lot of weight taken off it.

Nice bike though.

Picking up me new, second hand, frame this friday. Will post pics of my built this weekend probably. All i need to get is a front hub to get the wheel built, some new pedals(maybe),new handbar + stem(maybe).

Maybe, but he's not catching air all the time?

I've gotten closer than is comfortable with the top tube / stem a few times, but always found my saddle pleasently soft in a hard landing.

Maybe pleasently is the wrong word? :p

Haha.

Well myself on my MTB i jump with the saddle as high as i ride anyway.

Thats generally the saddle even/above handlebar height.
