I meant it in the sense that manufactures wont be putting this on full builds as standard due to maintenance etc. Problem with airshocks is they aint as forgiving when neglected. Dont get me wrong, all shocks aint, but a standard coil shock will stand upto a lot more abuse, thats my reasoning as to why air shocks will never take off. Also the fact that air forks/shocks feel horrible half way down a 5min run and dont feel the same as when you started off. However they seem to have corrected this issue but only time will tell on that front.

As for the 40's, i wouldnt say they need a hell of a lot of servicing, they require a lower oil and lube done every so often and maybe a full service say every half a year if your giving them a thrashing every weekend, so maybe a full year without having to send them back to Mojo. As compared to Boxxers, which as mine felt crap out of the box, had to send them back to fix that, got them back and they started clunking so sent them back again, this resulted in a new compression cart being fitted. Then after only a few more months they became super stiff which resulted in my having an off at Cwmcarn at the DH meet we had. So its either spend over £100 having them TFTuned to fix these problems (Which some people say are still the same after TF) or go for a fork which works. I guess maybe ive had a bad experience, but to say 40's require a lot of servicing is a bit mad when you think Rockshox cant even get a pair of Boxxers working out of the box?

Remember when the DHX-a came out and all those exploding due to overheating? I think that has put a lot of people off air shocks for DH. Funnily enough I have heard of Boxxers feeling rubbish out of the box for years. Fox ain't been great either with not enough fox fluid in the forks from the off. That and the seals not being great probably goes some way to explaing why people think they need so much TLC. The 2011 forks should go some way to addressing those problems.

On a related note, I'm hoping my DHX coil has a few 'upgrades's' in it when it comes back from a service next week. :D

The MULE NV is particularly good, as it has a rigid back panel to keep the bag in shape and a suspension system to keep the air flowing :)

I find the NV cant hold anything. Its large but when you have 3l of water nothing else will fit apart from wallet and keys. and a tube in the outer compartment. NO lunch! well, if your going to have a power bar :p

Well i picked up the Tesco one, pretty decent although i have nothing to compare it to. It feels well made, the mouth piece is a bit meh but it will do, plenty of space for my tools/spares plus an extra water bottle, might pickup the 2l bladder next time im in there.

You can always take the panel out if you really need that extra space :)

That said, I've never had problems. It's a little tight, but I always manage to squeeze lunch and a pump into the main compartment and even a jacket in the overflow compartment if I don't want to wear it, still leaving space for wallet, keys, etc. in the pocket!

Cant remember if I've posted this yet or now, apologies if I have!
Going to the Movie premier ni London, on the 28th May... can - not - wait!

If I'm not on a DH roadtrip I'll be at the NYC premier this coming weekend, otherwise I'll watch it next week when I get back.

Muk off is pretty much the industry standard. Definitely get some.

I usually spray with muk off first to break down some of the mud/gunk, scrub the more stubborn bits, then wash off with a hose.

What methods do people here use for cleaning their bikes? Looking at some of the muc-off stuff, anybody got experience with it? Wondering if it's worth the cash.

I just wet the bike quickly to soften up the mud (if it's dried on, I usually wash whilst the mud's wet) then scrub off most of the dirt with one of my brushes, after most of the mud is off and the bike is still wet, give it a good covering with muc-off, let it set for a while, scrub a bit more with a lighter brush then rinse quickly again. Always use a fine spray, even a powerful garden hose can be bad.

After getting water in my headset (replaced last week) and now my front wheel is wobbling again (pooly sealed front hub, requiring another pair of 6805 bearings) I'm trying to use as little water as possible from now on.

Said it before, I'll say it again: Fenwicks mixed up strong. Hose off the loose mud, coat the bike in plenty of Fenwicks (and I mean loads..) and then hose it off again. 99.9% of the time thats all that needs doing. Every so often take some hot water with some car shampoo in to get off any tougher marks.

And clean the chain obviously.

Anyone ordered a bike from Wiggle before?

Ordered a bike last wednesday night and the status has not moved from "not yet processed" since then. Understandable that they are busy because of the sale they had last week but I just wondered if anyone knew how long they normally take. It says 3-7 days dispatch on the site so I emailed them and they said it was in a queue but that's of no help.

I want my new toy damnit! :D

I'm back from seeing the Nurse. My wound from the off at Bennachie last week is infected and if it gets worse in the next 24hrs then I have to go to hospital. On anti biotics and no biking for 2 weeks.

Darn, I can't go to see the Lycra fest at Dalby now. :p

What are you getting?

I've got an Alu 7005SL as my light commuter but was tempted to add a Gran Forno a few weeks ago.

got a 7005SL carbon rear stays with full Veloce :) Although I keep getting tempted to plump up the extra ~£200 for the Nero Corsa but I've already spent more than my original budget...

Mine is the full Alu, so I get to feel every bump in the road, but it's still pretty good and I don't feel too battered after 50 miles (carbon seat post helps).

You should fare very well with the rear carbon triangle.

Mine is a full 105 build. Excellent bike and good value without the price inflation of getting a 'names' bike.
