I'm looking to get myself a bike for cycling to work as well as the option of taking it out in the country. Won't be doing any downhilling or anything mad, just after a solid bike that I won't need to spend a load of time/money initially changing all the parts from stock.

Budget upto £500 but happy to spend less (or a bit more if justified).

Suggestions please....
