Pffft. M's come with 210mm's at stock. And seeing as you've just ripped your santa cruz heckler in half, i'm not taking you seriously :p.

As for the Avid's, they're cheap, and powerful, which gets them the rave reviews, dunno about why the pros use them so much, I guess Magura don't sponsor people much/atall.

Um SRAM own all........riders riding boxxers........using avid brakes and using truvativ cranks. Like peaty sponsored by kenda......he rode highrollers that had the label coloured over.

oh and bye bye forks Mr.220mm rotor.

220mm floating rotor with braided hose. Hope Mono M4.

:D

What does it mean by floating rotor btw?

Thanks.

edit: looking at the pic I can sort of see. What advantage does it have?

And yeah, they look like htey'd stop pretty sharpish indeed.

Lighter due to having an alloy spider........the hopes arent true floating rotors they just have that spider....its supposed to help cooling aswell.

The brembo rotor IS a floating rotor as it has sprins in the joins to the spider so the rotor has movement in it and can expand/contract.(im sure the hopes still do this though as the ting when cooling down)

I'd hazard a guess and suggest that peaty rides boxxers cause they're light, a lot lighter than 888's or Foes Curnutts, yet they are not as good as the 888's and have nothing on the Foes. Peaty's also a bit of an oddity, he paints his rims to look like DeMaxx too ;).

As for avids being expensive, top range M's are £250, so in comparison, they're cheap. And the fact that you have to spend atleast £100 on each brake for a decent set doesn't make their price extraordinary.

I've tried the cabled bb dh and the J7's. There's nothing wrong with them... But they won't stop you in quite the way GM's do... like you won't get whiplash :p

Its personal preferance.I ride hfx9's which bite hard and i get used to them but upon riding my mates mono 4's its like wtf i have to pull the lever hard to get any power.....i dont like that too much. I do like the look of J7 carbons

Going to a local shop tomorrow after work. Hopefully they will have some nice bikes I can try out.

The Rockhopper 2006 disc is looking very nice.

Have you tried Leisure Lakes Bikes in Bury - only 10 mins up the motorway from you - took my Brother there a couple of weeks ago to get him sorted with a MTB.

If you cant get up there (No transport etc) - let me know and i might be able to give you a lift as i am local (Stalybridge)

Phone Hope and ask them if they can make one for you, then order it through your LBS. That's what I did with my 220mm rotor before they became available.
