Please explain how you get 5" of rear travel with the seatpost hanging that close to the shock.

The Res will move down with the action if the shock...not up.

why dont you cut the seat post for a better fit / look.

Can be done but it depend what he was doing last, if he was doing dh he might have lowered it right down.

edit - to save adding another post

i found the 888 rc2x iirc were a real pain to set up correctly. they would feel ok on small stuff but would bottom out on drops.. or the opposite. imo they had lots of adjustment but it wasnt accurate enough.

40's i found were great. they could do with a competative price though. :eek:

Luckily my new bike has them as standard

i also tried the matinau darado (sp?) too as theyre very similar to my shivers being upside down but again... the cost is stupid.
