*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Still going with Lion's Prep, can't believe it. Costing me an arm and a leg mind you, but it's providing me with more healthy meals each week than I'd eat in a month. Only thing is my daily calorie intake is a bit low with it, so thinking about bringing back Huel to complement it.

Just under 2 weeks left here in Spain. Hadn't bought much booze for the shopping for this week then hit upon a lovely wine shop on Sunday

Be curious where i'm at when i actually get back on some scales. I've certainly put on weight, there's no doubt about that, and not sure it'll just drop off like normal holiday weight! I think the big factor is eating out much more. Food is always cooked in loads of oil/butter and here a lot of deep fried and comes with bread. Obviously i could make better choices, but who wants to do that!

88.9kg the morning that we jet off to a week’s all inclusive holiday. 8 week average is below 90kg which I’m really happy with. Not managed to dip under the 88kg goal, but things have been steady and I’m hoping that some of the healthy eating habits are really starting to stick now. I’m sure I’ll have added a couple of kg on my return, but I’m not going to log weight or calories whilst I’m away. Not exactly going to have the chance to booze from sunrise to sunset with the kids which helps the calorie intake!

I wondered whether I’d call time on this journey after this holiday, but I’m quite enjoying the process and I’m feeling really good in myself. Ideally I’d like to up the exercise, but life is getting in the way of that at the moment.

For now, I’ll be at the buffet!

Well, I'm a lazy single male who loves routine, so porridge for breakfast, Huel for one meal and a relatively healthy ready meal for the other. Yogurts and protein bars for desserts and gaps.
Breakfasts are ok for me, it's lunches and dinners where I struggle most.
Wish I could do Huel but tried it multiple times for long periods but it just doesn't agree with me unfortunately.
Like you I would go for some kind of ready meal as they're really convenient but they're nearly always too small, have questionable ingredients or just too expensive.

I don't mind a bit of cooking but I admit I find it exhausting to prepare every meal while also calculating calories, etc. Some days I just cba and would like something really simple I can throw together.

My go-to is usually a chicken wrap. I cook up a load of mini chicken fillets in the oven and keep in the fridge all week. Re-heat them when required and have in a wrap with some salad. Does get pretty boring after a while though.

Hmm, that's not a good sign. I'm not saying that's ALL you need, but that a yogurt and a bar should be plenty. This is my lunch or dinner every day and if I'm actively trying to lose weight, often the yogurt or the bar are skipped.

Is it possible you might need to work more on portion control than what you're actually eating?

When you said ready meal I assumed you meant a meal from the supermarket that you heat up? In my experience they normally contain too much sauce and not much else. Which is why I said most of them are too small.

Surely almost all ready meals are between 350g and 400g? I've found quite a few I like. eg a nice Tune Pasta one, around 440cals. Thrive do an amazing Thai Chicken thing at around 340-370cals. Both are around the £3 to £4 mark.

Yeah I bet. What are some of the good ones? I may just try and loosely copy them. I see Lion's Prep from above, any others?
Well if I could afford it I'd ideally get a lot of the marks and spencer meals.

There is a site called COOK and they do ready meals which are much more homemade looking.

Perhaps try them but agree with the idea of cooking a load of extra veg or salad to help bulk up your portion size.
