*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

Need to get on the weight loss train again, been gradually putting on the pounds again after losing 3 stone since lockdown ended.

I'm still hovering around the 100kg mark. I'm not sure why but even though i feel really determined, my willpower has just left me completely. Last Thursday i was in the pub as my mate was doing a gig, then Saturday we went to an Oktoberfest event at a local brewery, complete with lots of beer and bratwurst.

Yesterday i was hungover as hell and caved into Chinese for tea!

I'm hoping that the fact i'm maintaining weight through diet at the moment will accelerate when i can start running again, but that feels a long way off still. Need to be better though. My main culprit (other than beer), is the boredom eating when the wife goes to bed. She goes around 8-9pm generally and then i go for a short walk and then get back and get peckish around 10pm. I might try and change routine and get up early for walks which means i'd go to bed around 10.

A suggestion for the boredom eating / peckishnesh. I know it's boring but try a small bowl of porridge or Swiss style sugar free muesli (or I should say no added sugar!), preferably with skimmed milk. Not a huge amount of calories in either (especially if you do the porridge with water, I'm not big on porridge being sweet so I chuck a bit of salt in and it satiates any craving I have for savoury).

I'm sort of happy that I'm stuck at 77kg. I've been able to eat some goodies and offset it with daily 5km jogs. Still, I'd like to get to <70kg at some point. But with Christmas coming up - and the mince pies already stocked up in the cupboard - it's probably not going to happen until next year. :p

Went out for a meal last week for mum’s birthday - ate sensibly - and weight has remained static since. Measurements down in a couple of places today though compared to last Monday… this is why it’s good to use more than one metric when tracking. Water not budging but some more fat seems to have gone.

I've had a terrible few weeks and was 15st 11 before the weekend, then had a weekend away with friends eating fast food and lots of it. I dread to think what I weigh right now. I've not even exercised much, but at least got out for a 56 mile ride this morning. I'll try and spend a few weeks being good and bringing the weight back down.

Mines still dropping off, I'm running 5km six times a week at the moment and have cut sugar to a minimum (I never ate sweet things anyway). Put a pair of work trousers on today for a meeting in the office for the first time in 8 weeks and they were falling down as a walked, had to take everything out the pockets.

Still haven't got on the scales though, still not brave enough and tbh I'm trying not to because I've been down that road of weighing myself daily and know where it ends. I used obsess about it and ended up weighing myself after having a poo, it wasn't a healthy place to be.

Anyway.

I only mentioned my weight to show it's not the be all and end all of health, but it is a part of the puzzle which is why I've dropped 10lbs since.

Weighed myself this morning on my scales at 10.63 stone or 67.5 KG, then went to my GP about an hour later and was 67 KG on his scales. So my scales are accurate enough in regards to weight measurements.

Always wait for that first poop. If it doesn't come before breakfast, it's not a weigh in day :)
I don't think I've ever managed a poop before breakfast

Since I hit 41 a few weeks ago I have noticed that I'm struggling with my weight and finding it so hard to keep the weight off.

I'm not necessarily fat but I try so hard to eat healthy every day and have done really well for the past month.

But then I got really stressed about my dog being sick this evening, so found the chocolate I had been given for my birthday in the fridge and before I knew it, I'd eaten the lot. :(

And it was a lot of chocolate.

Now I just feel full of self loathing and stupid for giving in.

So found this thread and reading your experiences is really helpful so hope you don't mind me popping in every now and then :)

Since March I've gone from 14st10 to 13st exactly (5ft11) using MFP. Bit of nutrition advice if anyone has any, was going to start a thread but thought I'd ask here first. My weight has always been up and down and I want to get it under control for once, although realistically the only problem I have is my belly. As of right now it's the only issue I have, I can literally grab it with two hands still, it's soft fat if that helps.

Is this just a case of keep losing weight (12, 11, 10, 9 stone?) Lowest I've been is 11st9 a few years ago and the issue was still the same which made me stupidly lose motivation and gain a lot back. I'm already being told I shouldn't lose any more weight but obviously I'm just being judged with clothes on. I've recently took up running which I'm enjoying and want to take it a bit more serious so ideally I would like to eat more calories if anything once I get my distances up. I'm not really in a great position to join a gym which I know I need to do next. Or is it time to look at what I'm eating a bit more thoroughly? I don't eat takeaways any more but I do drink alcohol occasionally but we are talking very sporadically now. If it's a case of ditching everything and living off chicken, rice and broccoli for a year then I will get stuck in!

If you're still fat then you need to lose more fat, it's as simple as that really.
Joining the gym and starting using weights will help avoid you becoming skinny fat wherein you're about the weight you want to be but due to lack of lean tissue you just end up looking like a smaller version of where you started.

If you're still losing weight on what you're currently eating then there's no need to change it, I'd just throw in a few resistance sessions a week to begin with and see how you get on. Even something like resistance bands will help if you can't get into a gym.

Personally I'd avoid going full nuclear and hitting the chicken, broccoli and rice style dieting as it's not sustainable for most and is a bit grim.

Exactly what I was thinking thank you. Regarding macros I have my fat set higher which is what keeps me motivated as I don't enjoy being carb heavy but if it's doing me an injustice I will change it? Hopefully that's not a stupid question lol, currently I'm on 2444 calories, 30% carbs (183g), 25% protein (153g) & 45% fat (122g).

Nothing wrong with keeping fats higher if you feel better on it, it won't have a negative impact on fat loss.

Thank **** for that haha. For now it works for me so I guess I'll continue. Time to drop the calories again then and see what the next few months bring, keep it up everyone

What's MFP? Sounds like it's working though as that's an impressive amount of weight to lose!
