Big ol' Burger Comparison Thread

I had a burger an fries from a place called Eds diner I think a few weeks ago, I seem to remember it tasting amazing but my body alcohol content at the time made me forget most other features :D

Went to the Five Guys branch at Bluewater the other weekend, was pleasantly surprised but have had much better.

Notably from GBK & Byron, but if your in London, get to Camden and visit Hachè Burger, quite pricey, talking about £20 a head with a side and drink but by far the best burger I've had in any country.

Just to note, weekends it gets very busy and it's only a small shop to boot, probably 10 tables or so I'd say. But it's worth a wait.

You're entitled to your opinion, but it's wrong ;)

Actually I know someone else who prefers five guys to patty and bun. I really don't understand why. They are very different burgers though.

It's about as wrong as preferring patty and bun over 5 Guys :) I just prefer the overall taste.

Then again I'm no Shoreditch hipster.

I've eaten at the one in Chelsea (near the Brompton) and you're right, it was fantastic but pricey. I'd definitely head there over Five Guys!

i don't mind 5guys but its not all that... still a good filling meal that doesn't make you hate yourself afterwards (like McDonalds / BK does)

I'd be hard pressed to pick between Meat Liquor and P&B tbh, both amazing burgers. i love Meat Liquor's decor and deep fried pickles but P&B seem to have better beers....

Probably the best burger I ever had was a £70 Heff Burger at the London Playboy club (for work of all things!) made with wagyu beef - that was epic (and served by bunnies) didn't have the optional Foie gras topping though!

Been to the Five Guys in London a few times. Love the burgers and the drinks machine, but it's just too pricey. Admittedly, they do completely slather you in fries so you'll come away stuffed in whatever case.

Best burger "experience" I've had was doing the Devastator at the Red Dog Saloon on Hoxton Square. Managed to get the burger down me in ~11 minutes. No way in hell I could do the full challenge.

No love for Dirty Burger? They do a pretty tasty burger imho, great shakes too.

Already mentioned but Honest Burger is great, as is Byron and had some tasty burgers at GBK, good blue cheese sauce.

I need to try Meat Liquor and P&B, have heard a few people disappointed with Five Guys.

SoLita in manchester is my favourite up north

Had the donut burger @ reds true on monday, was lovely but no solita.

Dirty Burger was my favourite London burger

Whats the big hoo haa about it costing £14? I assume the £14 price that is being quoted is for a burger, drink and fries? If so I'm not sure why so many people are complaining, you'd be paying that much at most (if not all) 'trendy' burger joints up and down the country.

Almost Famous is about £7-£10 for a burger, add your fries for another £2-£4, then your drink for another £2-£4, Solita is more in some cases and you can pay upwards of £15 for your burger (inc chips though).
I'm fairly sure the same can be said of Byron, GBK, P&B etc.

Handmade Burger & Co is really good, i like them the best

Five Guys they have in Reading, had a bacon cheese burger in there and it was pretty good, we order 2 burgers, 1 fries and 1 drink and it was £18.

The beef i have with Five Guys is its burger restaurant prices but served in a fast food way. It feels like McDonalds but getting charged GBK prices. If you know what i mean?

The burger I had at handmade in Reading is one of the worst I've had. And it cost the same as patty & bun.

The problem is the price difference given how much it costs in New York.

The single burger (171g, 480cal) is $5.54 (£3.45), the double bacon cheeseburger (317g, 920cal) I had is $9.35 (£5.83).

Hamburger in London = £6.75, bacon cheeseburger (not even a double) is £8.75

Its funny because I consider 5 guys in the US quite expensive, normally worth it but can get burgers almost as good for 30% less.
