Narbonne, south of France. Absolutely amazing countryside, amazing roads, loads to see and do in the area, cheap-ish, lovely weather this time of year. Barcelona is also a nice day ride from there if you fancy it. Can't wait to go back.

Haha - thanks but that's a crazy suggestion. Narbonne is 1,100 km from Calais - I may as well ride to the Alps in a day - it would be quicker!

Slog down to the B500, ride that up and down for a couple of days (plus the Vogues mountains if you get bored) and then slog back?

Thanks - that's a bit more realistic. I rode through the area last year but not on any interesting roads. I'll have a look.

Looks like i'm not going to be able to get a second bike :(

So question is, what do I get to replace the GSX650F for an all-year commuter but also tour and Sunday blitz for under £7K. Does such a bike really exist? I will be looking for something bigger and more powerful but lighter (which isn't hard).

After just a couple of years of all-year commuting on the Suzuki, I'm kind of put off by Suzuki. Even though I garage it and cover it from rain when it's not, and cover it in AC50 after cleans etc, the corrosion surprises me.

This probably deserves it's own thread tbh, but hey ho.

Hmmm.... thoughts on this?

What did we decide on the whole 'repair and dont worry about it'?

The tyre is holding 46psi still... (which seemed high to me, but apparently is correct)

It it a nail, or just sharp stone?

I'm one of those that if it's a puncture i'd repair or pump up enough for a trip for a new tyre, regardless of how new it is. That's what i did recently with just 1000 miles on the tyre, though it was the front.

I would stay away from Kawasaki if you are put off by Suzuki corrosion lol.

What are you looking for? I thought the 650F would be a perfect all year commuter.... maybe a VFR? Tiger? GS? Actually scrap that just seen you said lighter....

My personal preference for an all rounder would be the S1000XR or the Z1000SX, but not for £7k I imagine....?

Nope, bit too much really for the S1000 but £6.5K will get me a good 2013-2014 Z1000SX

I have seen a few K1300 and R1200R that have caught my attention.

How much commuting/how many miles/what type?

If it's all year round you'll want a fairing/screen, do you want an adventure bike or sports tourer?

K1300S :D

46 seems very high, minus 10 off that now its warmer!

Tbh, I didn't look too closely. The book says 36/42. It might have been closer to that than I thought. I'll have another check when I ride to work.

That's a stone/bit of flint, pick it out you'll be fine. I get these all the time.

That's what I initially thought too. Seemed quite well stuck though. Didn't want to pick at it too hard has I still had to ride home. When I get in from work tonight, I'll have another dig at it.

K1300S is on the list :p and i'm more after the sports tourer type. Even when I tour i don't warrant the extra cost or ability of an adventure bike. Panniers are a must but can get a Givi bracket separately.

Commuting is mainly the A1 (Dual Carriageway) at 60mph-*cough*85mph*cough* and roughly 125 miles a week.

Think I've found my next bike... Though it wont be until next year at the very earliest so subject to change. I can't stop looking at Ducati 848's. I've accepted a Panigale is out of my budget but these seem reasonable.

Any of you Triumph owners want to chime in on how cheese like your metal is? I've always liked the Sprint ST, but looking at the Sprint GT right now, i'm certainly interested.

I wasn't impressed with the first gen Street Triple, but my Housemates 09 Daytona does seem to be a bit better... the only thing thats corroded away on that was the bolts to the servo, but that things never really seen any rain or winter...
