I break up next week for 3 weeks, I'm looking at luggage options for the s1000r now so I can get away for a week/10 days.

Have you cancelled your alps trio @TallPaul_S as @Kreeeee was in an accident?

Kriega. Accept no less.

Go to 44teeth.com/rewards as there's a 10% off code for kriega stuff, makes it the cheapest place.

Kriega rucksacks are very, very good, my R30 has done well over 30k now and never gets washed and it's never missed a beat. It's 100% waterproof and it keeps the weight off your shoulders. When I wear a normal rucksack I realise how rubbish they are. Well worth the premium IMO.

The US bags are great too as it doesn't matter which bike, they'll fit, and again they're 100% stable and waterproof.

Agreed that an SW Motech EVO tank bag is the best too.

I echo this, have an R20.

Tough decision. What are the odds on my being fined in France/Switzerland for my exhaust?

Straight through? Very high. I wouldn't take your bike to Switzerland!

A bike with a cat but without a baffle I've never heard of anyone ever getting stopped.

I don't have the experience of Kreeee but last summer one of our tour party abused Switzerland and France for 6 days with a Termignoni full system on a Multistrada. That thing is offensive, the plus point being that it is so loud that it hides the sewing machine engine noise. No issues at all. I'll be testing their patience with an Akrapovic in a couple of days, but there's still a cat to mute it. Happy to take my chances.

With a cat you'll have no problems, but note that this year the police have portable db meters with them so straight through pipes will get flagged and the bike deemed not roadworthy.

Good lad :D if only I was so quick thinking. Not been home for the last few days so hopefully I've not got a nice letter waiting for me :o

He didn't think about one thing though, he took his lid off. Only made it easier for the pigs to track him down... :o
