Rode this today. R1200GS Adventure.

Love it. Way better than the Triumph Explorer 1200 IMO. Considering one for next year once I've paid the Speed Triple off :)

Brand new, 24 miles on the clock, all the extras. I reckon I'd only get the cruise control if I got one, don't need quickershifter etc., especially not for BMW pricing.
You'll need a nice pipe and slippers to go with that ;)

You can strap a tent and luggage to anything, no need for a full top box and panniers for a trip around Europe.

They're meant to be good but it's another 10 years at least before I'd consider one as my only bike, maybe as a 2nd bike.

They are an amazing bike, the engine is sublime. The first time I rode one I loved it but didn't want a bike with that much bulk so I went for the naked r1200r instead.

I absolutely love my 2012 GS Adventure rode form Cornwall to France and back and it was amazingly comfortable and 48 Mpg thats 2 up with fully loaded luggage.

As far as I am aware though there is a stop sale in place on all GS's until they have had the fork recall modification carried out.

I know my local dealer isn't even letting people test ride them until they get the kits in to carry out the work.

Haha I'm not close to that age yet :D

These days I get most of my biking enjoyment from longer trips out / touring so am after something that's better for that - easily carry a tent and equipment, go more miles, etc. Plus it'll of course be better for the commute in winter. And will take me around the world on my trip ;)
Its an old mans bike...

Will do tomorrow. :)

Changed grips on the bike...easy enough. Came to fit some bar ends and found an issue. First side seems ok apart from the sides are now turning inside the handbar...but the bar end is attached. The other side appears to be missing something. Checked on Fowlers parts and cannot see it listed so not sure what to do?

What first side looked like:
Xinb
other problem one:
pLJ2

Anyone know where I can source this part?

@MowyTone Clean it with WD40 and a metal brush, it might be what I did to my handlebars to fit the bar ends. Its easy to take out, but I need to see it first! :p

No, its not at all.
It is, have you ever seen anyone under 45 riding one? I see more 50+ in their matching beige textiles with a weird offroad helmet.

Knock that part down into the bar and fit some universal bar ends. That's the option I took with mine when I found out one of the previous owners had made a total dogs dinner of the threaded part that holds the bar ends in mine.

Still the cbr600? Don't know what year it is but the part is listed here. If it's not in stock, at least you can get the part number.

Actually yes I know loads under 45 riding them and even more than a few under 30.

Nice stereotyping though but more effort required........

Under 30 on a GS, I need to see it to believe it. Although... my instructor said his mates son who was at the time 24-25 bought NC750... So, I guess its possible, definitely not common. I'm yet to see someone under 40 on a GS. :o

Ryansliferiding on YouTube has a mate who's 23 who owns a 1200GS, it is uncommon but I don't think there's anything wrong with a younger person riding one.

I think IC3 is a bit like me. Now he can't ride he's become a miserable sod :p

I'm actually on happy pills, although they don't work as well as they did at the beginning. I ditched all the painkillers shortly after getting out of hospital, I prefer natural herbs instead of all those chemicals...

There isn't, but its strange... and very uncommon. Don't get me wrong, the GS is probably the best in its class, but its not exactly an exciting fun bike... is it?

That's subjective, one person might find it boring, the next might find it awesome. :)

Managed to get some footage on my camera, must have had the mic sticking out a bit as it's still picking up wind noise, maybe i should zip it up in my pocket completely?

Yeah, you can close the pocket completely, the sound will still get to it. If its still bad, you can get some microphone foam and wrap it around it.
