People have really got their Friday driving heads on today that's once on the way to work and once on the way home. Both times just total ignorance of what's going on around them and pulling straight into my lane.
People do get a bit scared when they realise what they've done and that you'll be pulling up next to them at the next lights though, don't know why I'm lovely.

don't know why I'm lovely.
:D

I had the same thing this morning. Someone trying to merge into me where 2 lanes come together. Also had an interesting one where someone decided to stop driving round a roundabout this morning when they saw me approaching. Just stopped... In the middle of the roundabout... Clearly just wasn't paying attention, saw a bike and then panicked so hit the brakes!

Made a serious kit faux pas this morning, decided to go with my summer gloves and a thin wool liner glove instead of my full on thick winter gloves, at one point I couldn't feel anything in one of my fingers and the pain was immense as the feeling came back while I was sat at some roadworks :o

stick your hands in the fairing and warm them up on the engine.

I went to have a look at the Tuono factory with the non-forged wheels, it's wasn't great and certainly not worth £6.5k. Looks like it had been dropped on the right side, and there were loads of marks and scratches all over the tank.

Went to look at a different factory tuono, 2007, 23k miles - this one was in brilliant condition. When you looked in the tight nooks and crannies you could see it had done some miles, but overall condition was fantastic. Proper OZ blue forged wheels, and of course dripping in carbon and ohlins front and rear :D Decently priced at £5k too.

Felt huge vs my little CB400, and I think I'd need a set of AP rearsets to lower the pegs down a little for comfort and re-locate the rear brake master cylinder (a known issue). Oh and I'd be doing the sidestand mod right away, the bike above was on the original sidestand and it's a common mod to fit a fireblade stand, the original one is so upright it made me nervous putting it back on the stand.

Only thing is, I'm a sucker for gold wheels - think I may have to try and find an 08 or later with gold forged wheels :D

Yeah I'd seen both those, I keep an eye on ebay. The first one is more than I'd want to pay especially for a private bike with no warranty. Although 2500 miles... I'd do nearly double that in the first summer I owned it!

2nd bike, having a power commander actually puts me off a little, I'd want an unmodified bike, and that rear luggage rack would have to come off straight away.

Don't have the money for one yet but I'll be looking to buy in the next few months - having seen a Factory in the flesh now (I'd never seen one before!) it's confirmed that it's worth waiting for a mint 08-onwards factory model to pop up :D

This is nice for the money http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201603041632127?search-target=usedbikes&make=aprilia&model=tuono&page=4&radius=1500&sort=locasc&postcode=me160bg&logcode=p it's had a replacement engine at 7700 miles under warranty, not sure if that's a bad thing or a good thing tbh...

I like the extras the factory has.. but only bits im interested in are the wheels and suspension . I already have ohlins on the rear and my fronts redone by ktec .

You can get a really clean non factory for 2.5k less and maybe spend 1k-1500 doing the right mods .. Better imho than having that ugly gold frame

Wheels, suspension and the carbon (wouldn't like to think how much all the carbon is worth) are the main bits I love on the factory models, I actually quite like the gold frame :D It's certainly eye catching ;)

The factory models are good value, if you like the looks - I doubt you could buy all the factory bits for the extra £2k a factory model costs over the standard 1000r. Plus they should hold their value a bit better than the standard model, although obviously that's offset by the higher purchase price.

And I'm not that keen on the standard model paint schemes, apart from the white - the factory paint is lovely.

Renthal handlebars came, what glue would you people recommend for the grips? :)

Hairspray.

Seriously, hairspray. :)

Spray the inside of the grips with the spray so they're dripping, then slide them on to the bar/throttle tube (you may not need to re-attach the throttle grip if you're swapping bars) and when the hairspray dries it'll 'set' and they'll be stuck. Easy to get off again too, unlike if you superglue them.

lol... I don't use hairspray, so I'll have to steal some from someone. :D :p

BTW These handlebars are so light, wider and my hands aren't as twisted. The real test will be when they're on the bike. I get the feeling, I've too much black around my handlebars. The tail tidy arrived, picking that up on Monday, and something else came too. But I've no idea what it is, I've lost track of what I was ordering. :p Still not bad, althougthere on all mods, I should close in £400, possibly with servicing. :D

I paid about £260 for all my carbon, all bar the wind deflectors are proper Aprilia Racing stuff and managed to get the Ohlins Rear Shock for about £240.

It might be worth looking around as the non factories can be had for a bargain

Are they the ultra lows?

Will you be drilling the holes for the lugs on the switch gear or filing them down?

Hair spray is the adhesive of choice by many people. Do not use super glue
