To cut long story short... I converted another biker into a car driver... I did warn him that this would happen tho! :p

On Friday I had to take the Tiger back to the dealer to get something checked under warranty (a Honda dealer as the bike was originally a trade in with them for someone swapping for a newer Africa Twin). I had excellent service and was even offered a courtesy bike if I needed one (which I didn't as it was only there for a day). The warranty was directly with the Honda dealer themselves rather than a cheap third party one, which are generally not great. I can maybe see an Africa Twin in my distant future so I'll definitely consider that dealer (Farnham Honda) in the future if I do. Very happy with the service received.

Anyway, while I was suiting up ready to leave, I saw an older guy like myself with his son being handed over a shiny 125 with even shinier new L plates. I popped over to congratulate the son and welcome him to what may be a lifetime of riding, and it turned out that the dad had actually just bought the bike for himself and his son was riding it back home for him as the dad didn't yet have a CBT. The son had passed his CBT and both were going to get their full licences. I thought how lucky the pair were to be learning at the same time and wished I'd had that experience with my dad. My wife is dead set against either of our kids getting a licence and I kind of agree, especially after my accident. But when my son has a few more years car driving experience I may reconsider it as he'd love to get on a bike. The same for my daughter who is even more desperate for a Vespa.

Just followed a guy on what looked like a varadero, L plates, top box, panniers so looked like a commuter set up.

Guy was in his mid 50 probably, no actual safety kit, cheap no name helmet but the best bit was the crocs... With his socks on obviously to keep his feet warm and his ankles swinging in the wind.

I'm all for wearing whatever you want but that's one of the worst I've seen from a guy old enough to know better.

You need a trip to Turkey mate, surprised they wear anything at all :D

Quite a swathe of motorbike dealerships shutting up shop in recent weeks! Pretty crappy especially if you're one of the poor sods who have lost money in the process.

Hi,
Could someone recommend me a good disc lock that would fit on the rear disc on a Honda Blackbird (1997) please.

Thanks in advance! :)

Edit:
P.S. - I have ordered a Litelok X1 for the front wheel.

IIRC the rear disc on the blackbird is solid around the carrier isn't it? So you'd need something that would fit the actual holes in the disc. You'd need to look at the smaller push lock type disc locks in that case I think it would an almost pointless exercise if you've already got a decent litelok on the front to stop it just being wheeled away. Those sort of smaller cheaper disc locks tend to be the ones that you can pop with a biro lid or similar.

Thank you Tom! Much appreciated.
I have yet to take delivery but since it was going to be* a semi-long ride (130 miles) I am being prepared for 'that' stop at the services and have the Litelok on at least for peace of mind.

@tom_e Would you have any recommendations for a cover too mate. I am looking at the 'JDC Ultimate Heavy Duty Waterproof cover' in large size. I will be parking the bike in a garage but the roof leaks a bit hence. From initial research it does look better.

That's exactly the one I've got but in a slightly smaller size for my street triple, much better quality than the Oxford ones I've used in the past. Mine lives outside so it's never going to be perfect in terms of keeping the rain out but for that use it'll be spot on

That's a hefty discount on a brand new bike (Lind Watford if anyone is interested). Quite a few dealers have been in trouble recently so is this a sign of problems at Lind or at Harley Davidson?

Hi,

I just got the Blackbird home today. It is a 97 carb model. I noticed the below nut had fallen where the bike was parked before moving it inside the garage. Google search suggests it maybe of the Sprocket. It was getting dark and couldn't check the bike later to see where it belongs.

At least I am relieved that I noticed it fallen on the ground.

Could you guys help with identifying it please. Appreciate your inputs. Cheers!

Those of you who went to TT IOM, how far in advance do you need to organise it? Any tips and recommendations on places to stay/watch the race? I want to finally scratch the itch, each year something comes up and seeing how quickly the months go by, I think its time to pull the trigger. lol
