Not a biker myself per-se (just ride a BW's 100 Scooter round town, dont laugh!), but a mate of mine has just bought a Kawazaki Z1000. Looks absolutely fabulous to a non-biker like myself. Whats people's opinions on it out of sheer curiosity?

No idea on quiet lids.

I do have an idea about decent earplugs though.

I've got a pair of tailored earplugs which cost me £60 at a bike show, posted to me within a fortnight.

IMO far better than the foam ones, and more comfortable

I'm using an Arai RX7-GP and don't find it noisy up to about 80/90 (not really done any faster since I've got them, but will have a better idea when I get out on track in May.

I'd say get the best fitting lid, forget the noise and get decent earplugs.

Dammit. So, any decent winter gloves recommendations?

The HG lobster gloves seem to be relatively highly reccomended.

I've got a pair of Racer Aqua Novus gloves which are winter gloves, waterproof and comfy. Unfortunately (as with every winter glove I've tried to date) the cold gets in eventually.

No idea on that model Z1000, it looks a fair bit beefier than the older ones (i.e. it looks a lot bigger and heavier).

However magazine reviews have said it's what the revised Z1000 should have been when it was released a couple of years ago.

On the other side of that coin though I really don't trust mags these days, I can't remember in the recent ones I've read about any bad reviews, I'm not saying they are lying, but I can't believe that every bike that rolls out of the factory is the best thing since sliced bread.

Biggest example I can think of was in Bike mag last month where they were saying that the new R6 was worth £9k+...... for that I can think of bikes I'd far rather have.

Yeah, beefy is actually the words I used when I first saw it. Must convince him to let me have a quick spin on it, though its been years since I drive a geared bike. ('89 Yamaha TDR 250, my old man gave it to me yonks ago, ran it into the ground)

I have decided just to keep my bike tinkering in here. I wont bother starting a new post as its not a whole rebuild.

Last night I striped the wheels off and took all of the bearings out.

Not sure where my camera is. so only using bloody iphone camera.

There not the best pics but can clearly see what im trying to do with the bike.

The sub frame is going to get taken back and primed then painted. all shiney bits of metal are going to be attacked by fine wire wool and auto sol.

Started doing it on the swing arm last night then realized i never took a before shot of it :(

Wheels are in the car boot and will be going to mates garage (Bob Scott Racing) to be coated. hopefully bearings will arrive today ready for when I get the wheels back.

Going to remove as much as I can without it getting to daft. and clean it like hell

I have put aftermarket Indicators on the back as the old ones were looking droopy and sad. but want to get some form of black cover for wires so black and yellow doesn't show. would heat shrink do? only needing about 200mm of the stuff.

I'd just like to brag about the AMAZING bargains I got this week;
£1500 worth of Rukka goretex trousers and jacket for £200
£1000 worth of Alpinestars leathers and boots for £50, yes £50!!!
When you spend the time looking ebay really can give you some good results!!!
