Black Desert Online

Anyone care to comment on the EU beta so far? Looks amazing in the videos, supposedly the western version is going to be similar to GW2 where it's B2P then you can only buy armour skins etc.

Cash shop details have been announced

The cash shop is better than I had expected. On the other versions, the main complaint is that people buy costumes from the cash shop and sell them on the AH to gain gold, but they have listened to the community and really taken a positive step. On top of that they have given alternative ways to gain things without spending money such as max inventory slots and bag weight via mileage (currency that you earn each day). Overall i'm pretty impressed by Daum so far with the changes that are being made based on the EU/NA feedback, which isn't necessarily something that happens in games that have been released in KR already.

Recently the KR version has received a large update to the Valencia region which included 2 'open world' dungeons designed for group grinding, and the Valencia region no longer features karma loss, but an Archeage style jail/crime system which should be popular with a lot of players.

CBT2 is rumored to be 18th February as it was originally in the forum post before it was removed.

I thought it was amazing Sega Dave, so enjoyable. I love worlds that I get immersed in, BDO certainly has one of those. You can do so much in it regarding crafting, making money, trade routes. It doesn't have many dungeons and it's PvP is pretty basic all be it non existant, or that's the impression I got when I played it. The game is magical even without it though.

Thats why I've avoided BDO , I need good dungeons or good PVP in an MMO. In 20 years of mmoing the ones I've enjoyed the most have always had either good pvp or numerous good dungeons. Without either of those, I fear I would simply end up looking at it as nothing more than a good looking tech demo or something like that. I absolutely admit it looks fantastic, especially the character creation but I need more than just looks to make it a game for me, I need great PvP (for example..UO or Daoc) or I need numerous good scale exciting dungeons (for example EQ1). I will keep an eye on it, as I do with the development of most MMOs over time.

BDO will have great faction/guild type PvP on a large scale, that's where it will excel plus it's a sandbox MMo. It really does have some great features and is defo one to watch.

B&S is more a theme park MMo with (possibly) the best 1v1 3v3 (soon 6v6 )Arena based PvP of any game. With B&S you can start open world PvP at level 5-6 simply by wearing your factions outfit. There are tons of dungeons already in the game with a cross server system that works.

I favour Blade & Soul but I'll still be playing DBO on release.

Sadly, 2 decades of MMOs has also left me very cynical about MMOs. Too often have I heard the words "game X will have" so and so. Today I am far more believing of what an mmo HAS rather than what it supposedly WILL have. Especially in respects of PvP where all too often I have heard an MMO "will" have great PvP only for it to end up not having great PvP when it comes to pass. As I say, I will keep an eye on the development of it but if past experiences of recent MMOs are creating any expectations in me, its the expectation that it will be another dead duck in 10months time once the initial excitement has worn off. One can but hope though.

a few daoc memories what I personally miss from mmos

bring back camping those keeps an mile gates in daoc an keep raids with entire realms helping

taking a shadowblade threw that darkness falls dungeon hoping to find an another realms player grinding so you an get the upper hand on them whilst they pull mobs

grinding those last few levels in valvarum?? the werewolf zone The ever increasing pulls an the kobolds doing there aoe dmg

then running off to spindelhalla in hope for a end game drop you could use

ahh many hours an months playing what I think was tbe best mmo ever

Daum games have realeased a character creater for this game, ahead of the CBT2 that was announced on Monday!

CBT2 will be in February 18th.

The character creater tool is a stand alone program, the interesting thing is you'll be able to save characters you create with this tool as templates for when the game launches! I think this is a nice touch from the EU/NA developer!
