Black Friday Deals

There's nothing really I'm after at the moment so any spending would be frivolous. Tech wise there's nothing worthwhile for me. Perhaps some more smart plugs/home automation stuff. But really even practical home appliances there's nothing we need. Might get some Lego for the kids but that's unlikely to be on sale.

Was after a lens for my camera but none of the ones I am looking at are on offer, was also looking at the Panasonic S5 camera but the current offer is more than it has been in recent months.

Tbh apart from the new down jacket I bought which I needed I'm very much going into 'keep your head down' savings mode for now.
Things are far too uncertain to be throwing money around. It's going to go two ways IMO, people will either have a blow out as 'it's Christmas' or pull up the drawbridge and retail will get wrecked.

Yes. I mean our family 'treat' is seeing my family in Cyprus for Christmas. That'll be expensive enough but worthwhile. Family time is irreplaceable (and my father has cancer so we want to spend as much time as we can together).

I just picked up a WD Black 1TB M.2 when it got accidentally discounted by 92% instead of the intended amount... they shut it down almost instantly but somehow still honoured my purchase, pretty happy :) £13.99 not bad not bad

At the same time there was a 24TB External HDD which had the same error so it was £60 down from £800!!! But sadly I was too slow and it just errored when trying to add it to basket
I got 3 of the nvme drives for £13.99 each, a 2tb external for £26.99 and a 20tb drive for £45.99, was amazed they honoured it as a friend has his cancelled.

Not wanting to put a dampner on Black friday or anything but it's already been established that it's just one big bonus day for retailers now. Who usually extend this one day to weeks.

it's already been established that prices are inflated before the "big day" to make them look good.

Whats also been established is the good stuff you could find at the same price or even cheaper a couple of months ago.

Its a retailers day for suckers, thats all it is.

Not saying you're not going to get a bargain or anything but the best deals are always old stock.

I just bought 22kg of whey protein from bodybuildingwarhouse at £13.45 per KG. That's decent pre covid prices! I've also renewed my PS Plus subscription, over the years I've shifted it to coincide with Black Friday.

Comparing between friends who ordered it seemed to us like the distinguishing factor between having it cancelled or not seems to be if you are paying for their premium service (unsure about naming that service in case it counts as mentioning competitors)

Think its just timing and luck, I have "membership" and my orders were cancelled.
