i have downloaded the 3.1gig file, unzipped, but when i try to run the setup i get the following:
The application failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.

did you have the crc check file ?, I would run it on the archive first.

AFAIK, you need 2007 SDK and a source game like TF2 / HL or CSS. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

You only require the Source SDK Base 2007, which is free.

Copy and paste this into your browser when Steam is running.

When you are installing it brings up SDK 2007 for you to install.

yeah modern games lack the atmosphere and jumpyness of games like HL1, not even Doom 3 makes you jump the way HL1 did/does!
