Black Mesa Source

That bit is really dodgy. You click on the screen where you want to aim (you probably will find half of the time the hud doesn't display properly)
Then you press the fire button around.

Your crosshair acts as the *mouse* when using it.

I'm now up to the Lamda place. Played that far from the above level :)
This mod is amazing!

I seem to be stuck. I'm at the secound encounter with the giant flame shooting bullet proof alien. I've gotten to the tower with the targeting computer. I can see how to "paint a target" on the map, but when I do nothing happens. Where the heck is the button to make them fire?
At the bottom of the targeting screen.

What weapons do people generally use most?

I typically go for the magnum for the head shots but now I've got the bee gun, I'll probably bee using that more (c what I did?!). Killing soldiers round corners is cheap though :p

Just picked this up. Epic mod O_o

Anyone know if there's a way to disable the way the brightness turns down to near-blackness in certain areas? Eg. that elevator near the beginning where head crabs are constantly jumping down at you - got down to 25% health there simply because it was so dark.

Very annoying. It even affects the flashlight.

That's not one that others have reported around here, try some new video drivers and/or the advanced video options.

Already on catalyst 12.8

Did a bit more googling and disabling HDR (required a game restart to apply properly) seems to have done the trick. Disabling spangly graphics effects goes against the grain though! :p

EDIT: And now it's fine with HDR turned on again. Funny old things, PC games.

Yea had no issues with brightness there, did the classic crouch by the railings so all the headcrabs jump into the electrified water below at that point.

Am I right in think that if you don't get off at the early platform then there's no other way up there?

Yes, I was going to say, I bet you have an ati card. I used to get a similar problem with older games and the gamma would change at cut scenes/level changes and you could not see in dark corners etc..

Absolutely loving Residue Processing.

Really missed this style of game, it's a great big huge area that until the cascade was an operational facility, not just a set of room joined together for a firefight.

But why don't the ammo packs glow when i walk into the room? ;)

About half way through now I reckon. Loving it.

I wonder if something similar could be done with Deus Ex? ....Be nice if the success of this could inspire a team to remake that! I replayed it recently, and whilst you can get it looking not too bad, I often felt that the gameplay could really use an update.

Really missed this style of game,

Totally:)

Well I just finished it. Hats off to the mod team that made this, was an amazing game.

Considering Xen was always my least favourite part of Half Life, I can wait as long as need be for them to add in the last parts.

I'm hoping they are holding off on Xen as they are doing some hefty changes to how it played. It's the only bit of the game that really needed a good rethink (thats not to say the changes they made to the rest weren't welcome!).
