Black Mesa Source

It's the bit near the beginning when you cross a water filled room which has electricity coursing through the joint. You need to get to an air vent on the far side of the room and there's a headcrab inside - he leapt out on the day of release all those years ago and I screamed like a little girl, threw my mouse in the air and very nearly soiled myself.
He didn't get me this time :D

:D Yeah Your right, must have got me too as I never enter tight dark places without a heavy crowbar swung back :)

Really forgotten how good games are when they don't hold your hand every step of the way. Wonder how well it would sell these days up against the "push x to win" stuff the other studios bring out.

Great, more vagueness and unfriendly progression. I'm all for it but this is stupid, how can people moan about Dark Souls when this game is much worse for it. I'm at the part with the 'train' and the security guard and the giant OP monster thing. No matter where I go there is nothing, no train to board nothing, just some weird tesla room thing with nothing to do in it. -_-

Well that answered that :D :D

It isn't a case of it not holding your hand, it's a case of there being no logical progression for anything, they put brick walls infront of you and tell you to walk on ahead.

They really don't, you just have to look around a bit. The area you're in right now you need to open the large security door near the creature, IIRC you have to activate the power, explore.

You mean you ain't smart enough to figure out what electricity might do that bullets won't :D

I've activated the power, and yes I figured out I'd probably have to zap the thing, shame I climbed up and there was nothing to do up there. Lets not be fanboys now.

Never mind, plugged the machine in and killed it.

I see this room has been changed a bit. Wasnt there 3 vats in the original, and you had to walk across all 3 using the rotating blades as walkways?

Ahh, that bit. I just ran like hell while it cooked me, but i spotted the bits i needed when i looked down through the hatch. Remember thinking "ah crap" as the flames licked around the floor i had to go down to. :(

It's pretty good, the only problem is with vague things like that, when you figure them out and progress there is little to no feeling of accomplishment or anything. :'(

Really? I just ran like hell past it into the power room and straight into the corner to avoid the cyclops flamer. Then noticed the rather suspicious looking wall sockets with plugs on the floor on front of them on each side of the room and had to wait for it to 'reload' before I rushed over.

That bit seemed much better done than in the original actually if memory serves.
