I was interested in the cinematic mod for HL2 until I saw how they changed character models. Why did they have to do that? I thought it would improve the look, lighting, music etc not the characters you love.

You can choose to use the original character models instead if you prefer.

IMO *most* of the updated character models are good, capturing the essence of the original. The obvious exception being the model for Alyx, who has become Adriana Lima with giant wobbly knockers.

edit: Judith also gets the schoolboy-fantasy treatment...

I feel like such a noob. I am stuck so early on. I've only just got my crowbar and am in the next room and went down the corridor. There is a door that slams shut every 3 seconds or so. In the room past that I am stuck by a door is locked by eye-key...

I crowbared a security guard over to the doors and placed the eye-pad upside down hoping to read his eyes, but it just doesn't work...

there are a couple of boxes you can hide behind until the scientist says you can go, don't need to fire a thing.

Mine has messed up. I cannot kill enemies any more, I shoot them and they just absorb my bullets, I can't crowbar them to death either but I can crowbar headcrabs (just not shoot them). Also when walkers come at me they don't swipe at me so I can't be hit by them.

I just took the ladder down to the core and sat there

till the scientist said i can go, they cant shoot at you there. Once you get the go ahead climb back up and jump across.
