Black Mesa Source

I haven't played black mesa yet but it seems from reading several websites that xen levels would be made into a self contained game to be released later on.

Does this mean I should still play black mesa or wait for the whole of the game to be released storywise?

Wait till you start jumping at all the bits that made you jump in the original :D

Followed by getting way to into the fire fights and swearing a lot and calling the army names...
 
Finally got chance to complete it last night. Brilliant game! :D

Has anybody in here got the Hidden Hat achievement yet?

I've found it, but I can't get through the portals up the reactor core with it. I can't seem to pick it up on the rare occasion I get it to safely land on the rotor.

In the end I just gave up and left it behind. I've got a save with it so I can go back and try again later.
 
A couple of times I picked up turret guns :D the game stops you taking it to far sadly.
picked up a toilet roll for the scientist, it said I got some sort of achievement, didn't see the hat though, I'm not sure there is any achievement scheme really, just a bit of fun.

I found the hat but wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with it at the time.
 
I saw this thread pop back up active so thought I would post in here to say I completed this a week or two ago. Epic game. Yeah there were a couple of tedious bits and bugs but overall, great! I had to use god mode on the helicopter as it glitched. Also had to use god mdoe on the bit where enemies keep getting dropped off by a plane. then a tank comes. Just couldn't be bothered with that in the end and god mode ran past them. Otherwise totally awesome. Some of the modelling and textures/effects were awesome for a dated engine and game where bits would have been made years ago.
