Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

But...I thought diversity was good and should be strived for?

I actually always found the principal of Wakanda to be quite sinister. A society that absolutely wants to keep everyone else out, they believe they're racially superior to everyone else and go to the extreme as to make themselves completely isolationist. Yet for some reason in a film this is lauded.

They accept absolutely no immigration!

Nah, a nation comprising solely of and/ or primarily run by African, Asian ,Hispanic or Arabic ethnicities is totally fine.

It’s only when it’s a society of Caucasian Europeans that it’s structurally racist and problematic….. ;)

There's nothing like a bit of spurious speculation in the morning.

I would say that most people have BP as middle of the road or perhaps slightly higher than that personally. Decent film, nothing more. I would happily watch it. I just didn't like all the fawning over it and quite obvious bias towards it due to its casting and themes. It wasn't a bad marvel film, it just wasn't the best thing since sliced bread.

I'd probably agree with that, Which isn't "near the bottom"

Of course it depends who you talk to. If this was a forum comprised of black Americans, I imagine it would be quite high up :D

It's not my go to fuel but it's definitely not bad ;)

Was originally on the fence but I'm looking forward to this, I think the setting is interesting and makes a change from 90% of Marvel films happening in America.

Wasn't really posting in this forum when the original came out.

RT Critics score of 96% is obviously way too high, and in reality that has to be partly due to the "Blackness" that was played up prior to release by media, commentators etc. It's sad but true, I don't think anyone should really be denying this.
RT Audience score 79%. I can't grumble with that.

Of course, and the first film was rubbish as well it was even nominated for best picture at the Oscars lol.

I like the first one when I viewed it at the cinema but it's not something I've ever felt like watching when at home. But bar Ragnarok and Winter Soldier most Marvel films are a one and done for me.

Not sure I'll go to the cinema just yet for this though

They must be brave most people would just give a whopping good review or else get called a racist.

Yeah, look at all these critics (19 and counting) terrified to give it a bad review...

Ill wait till I see the film to give a score, but 87% on RT is not THAT impressive. Considering the 1st got a 96%, I would say all the calls of "no-one will dare give this a negative score" have been silenced already :D
My average score for Phase 4 in the other thread is 7.4/10 so far, I'd be happy for Wakanda Forever to bump the average up, but at this point in Phase 4 I won't hold my breath! Eternals was the longest 2.5 hour in the cinema ever!

Edit: I'm avoiding all the reviews for now, bar the headlines I can't avoid on websites, but the headlines have been very positive from the sites I browse.
