Blackberry 9900/9930

Unboxing and tour of the 9900 :)

I'm no BlackBerry fan at all (though I do understand they are excellent for certain people/business use) but that does look quite a big improvement over the current 9700. I like it.

I still think that iPhone 5 is going to be the superior option (to everything) unless you need something rather specific that this device provides.

I just like BB for what they are. A damn good phone and email handler. Mine (8900) over the last 19 months has never let me down.

No idea what the iPhone 5 will offer compared to the iPhone 4. Doesn't seem much on the net about it yet.

I always look at unboxings, see how things look, the size (kind of) and the interface.

Bagged myself a SGS2 so all is good now :)

Just need it debranding possibly :p

Same here, phoen ane message handling is top notch, thrown in the security benefits and it ticks a lot of boxes for me.

Aye, I keep thinking about a SGS2 but I've always had smaller phones and I'm not sure I'm ready to start putting a TV remote control in my pocket or to my ear when making calls (it is afterall a phone...)

I've had a mobile for 12yrs now and I've never needed apps or anything like that, I just want a reliable way to make calls, send emails/texts and occasionally check the footie scores online - with a battery that lasts more than a day!

Heads up that TopCashBack are doing £131 off ANY contract with Vodafone if you preorder in the next couple of days, taking my £46 a month contract with £99 up front down to £520 for the entire 12 month term, hardware included.

That's the sim free price of the phone. :D

Aaand I've ordered. Roll on tuesday :D

It's intended as a business device primarliy, hence only a 5MP camera compared to the 8MPs on all the Android/iPhones. I think the camera is probably fairly low on their priority list when finalising the specs/design, doesn't bother me in the slightest since I have an actual camera for taking pictures.

The camera sucks but I don't care, I consider pretty much all cameras on phone a write off. Bolds for work, curves for consumers, torches for... I don't know :)

This is a fair point, BUT - a good use of a phone camera is taking images of documents which saves you having to write a lot of stuff down for example. With an EDoF camera this is very difficult because it can't take close up shots; at all.

In fairness I haven't actually tested an EDoF camera properly so I'm just going on what reviews said but I'm getting an E7 later on so I'll report back with how it is if you like.

Really? I've taken some awesome pictures with the iPhone 4 camera, SGS2 camera, N8 camera, etc. Many of them are pictures I wouldn't have taken if I didn't have a phone camera with me :p

Oh.... dear.

Not impressed by those at all.

It's EDoF, the same thing Nokia have on the E7 and some other phones, they are OK but useless for certain shots. Just... why.

LOL doesnt really bother me tbh...i dont use my phones to take pics unless i desperately need to.

Guess it comes down to cost saving and to make the phone thinner although i dont believe those excuses for one sec...meh big deal really...

Rumours are that Voda are releasing the phone today...a few people over at crackberry.com have got their hands on one...just a heads up really.

I've got my E7 here now so I'll inform you later just how bad the camera seems to be (as it's pretty much the same, just 8MP not 5). You never know, it might be ok!

Vodafone have announced they are releasing this today, so it is released, yes :)

If the Internet browsing on the 9000 is decent compared to my iPhone than I migh get one. Just worried if I'll be able to get used to the smaller screen having been used to an iPhone screen size for 3 years
