Blackberry 9900/9930

Christ, I may be turning my back on them after 11yrs in which case. I don't mind signing up for 24 months though if that brings the price down.

ditto that, same here 11 or so years with them. No chance am I paying for a phone upfront. never have done, nor will I.

They want my business then I would like it FOC on dolphin 35 or whatever it is I am on at the moment with my BB8900.

guess we shall have to wait and see.

I got shot down for saying I thought they were pricing it a bit high :p. Guess it's the premium of a touch screen? Or just generally a much improved device?

Its a much improved device hardware wise...software wise it isnt that big a leap from OS6...but i personally dont think its worth the £500+ that websites are selling it simfree...i think a price point of around £400ish would have been better but luckily for me, i get a fat little bonus so have splashed out on the 9900 for myself.

Nothing wrong with treating yourself once in a while, that's what bonuses are for :p

"Bonus"? I've heard that word somewhere before... Reminds me of "pay-review", also something I remember from years gone by...

I think £500 is probably an opportunist move on the part of the retailers, they know how long some people have been waiting for this phone, and although it's not an iPhone or the latest Android, there's still a lot of people that will pay £500 on the day it's released having read all the hype and watched all the videos.

Indeed i usually use one of my bonus cheques to buy myself a nice new phone...last yr bought the iphone4 so this yr definitely will be the 9900 Bold touch as thats a device thats been rumoured for a couple of yrs now ie a BB the size of the 9000 Bold but with a touchscreen element and beefed up hardware.

When I get my 9900 from Orange. Is there a simple way for me to transfer everything, including text's, emails already ON present device and email accounts etc over to the 9900 from my present 8900?

Will it be a facility within Desktop Manager?

Yeah there's a device switch option which appears automatically if DM detecs the MAC/PIN of a new device other than the one it's been administering previously.

Price of an item is partly driven by market value it's true but the seller can sell to the networks for inflated prices too which they hand on down to the customers... This is usually confirmed by checking the SIM Free price vs contract. In this case I think they have over-inflated it to try and attract top end buyers etc... iphone style.

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. This is RIM's flagship model with all their latest tech and OS ideas so it makes sense for it to go in at a similar price point to the top end smartphones from other market leaders.
