Blackberry 9900/9930

Don't worry about the battery. :)

However, I'd just charge it to full (doesn't matter if it stays full in the dock for a while, etc) and then let it drain to about 10%, then charge it up again. That will just ensure any software battery sensors monitor it properly, whether that is actually the case or not, I don't know.

+1

Indeed...i didnt charge my 9900 at all yesterday, only started charging it now but i let it drain to about 6% before i put the charger in...its quick at charging...almost at 100% now and thats about an hr i started charging it.

Oh i have heard reports that the battery indicator could be giving out false readings...a few have seen some quirky behaviour.

Yeah that's what I do with my current phone, just wondered if having it sitting in a charging dock 9-5 every day would have an effect on the battery?

It shouldnt do as it will stop charging when the battery reaches full capacity.

Ive used charging docks with all my BB's and ive never seen the battery suffer on my devices.

(this is of course assuming I ever actually get my hands on one... *waves fist at Orange*)

In before Orange are crap.
No update has been posted on it although the 9860 and 9360 have hit the "coming soon" list. Who knows, we might get them out before the 9900.

If you've signed up your email address through the coming soon page then this is the quickest method. When customers phone up requesting to be put "on the list" the CSRs just goto this page and put their email address in there - there's no special system for phoning in :)

Yeah I'm on the list, can't get to my Hotmail from work (or the Orange shop weirdly) so I pretty much leg it home every night in the hope of good news! I need to find a hobby...

Sorry Myshra. But I am very disappointed in Orange. All other networks manage to get the phone for testing and get it released onto the market to gain there market share.

All I hear is Orange testing is more stringent. So what, they knew the phone was coming and have not managed to keep up with the other networks releasing a phone to market. Is the department which tests and sorts these phones within Orange manned with inept idiots?

I am sure this delay from Orange may have lost them some new customers. A lot of people want merchandise as soon as it hits the market.

The longer the delay from Orange, more people jump ship.

I may of course be entirely wrong. But I am pretty sure, RIM didn't hold back on handsets for Orange yet give all the other networks phones.

Anyone know how long the credit check is, I bought it last night and they have "recieved" the order now I just gotta wait?

I don't know whats going on with Vodafone lately but I ordered mine on a Friday and didn't get it until the following Thursday, no credit check passed emails as I was supposed to get, I had to call in and was passed to someone in the warehouse (IIRC) and he sent me an email the day before delivery, I still didn't get any of the process emails. They may just be really busy?

This is going to sound so petty but experian IIRC do it 9-5 "open hours" for most of their contracts with telcos (we have a direct link to them) and it works in a queue system so sometimes you get the odd delay.
Orange have let you down
(All my thoughts, I'm not a company rep etc...) It's true - this one has probably lost us a lot of custom as BB users are staunchly brand loyal AND also tend to be professionals who spend a lot of money with us - having the latest handset to a BB user is an equal demand to iPhone buyers from reports I have seen.

Testing is strong in Orange, stronger than some other places I have seen but I can't confirm this is the reason for the delay in this particular time. We do know about phones the same times as other networks as you'd imagine and yes - we do horrible things to the firmware that I detest in the name of "single experience" which can add delays (again - not this time) but we truely wouldn't do this unless we had a good reason. Not only do customers not get to have this new awesome handset but you don't choose us and we lose money hand over fist watching you run away to the blue and red brigade :(

I try to put a lot of the feedback I get here into my reports and I will do especially for this debacle. I'm sorry I'm no company rep and can't really do anything from that angle but you can harass @Conorfromorange if you want some public fun (just don't link him to my posts :P ). Maybe our new CEO will work out that new handset launches are more important than our previous CEO thought (although the new CEO is not even as close in charm levels)

I was tempted to wait for T-Mobile as the wife has just gone onto them, we were both on O2.

But I've stuck with O2, not the cheapest, but happy with their service and coverage.

She's not too happy with T-Mobile and wishes she'd stuck with O2 :p

So after a few days of using my 9900 i have to say it completely takes my breath away everytime i go to pick it up and use it. Absolutely love it to pieces and definitely the best BB ever, just a shame RIM didnt do this about a yr ago.

Anyhow im running the 296 firmware and battery wise im getting around 1.5% drop every hr on idle obv as i use the phone, the battery drops as you would expect but so far am pretty damn impressed with the battery life....i do use my phone pretty hard ie between 50-100 emails, lots of bbm'ing and long phone calls and yet i still get through my day...with moderate use i get about a day and half use out of it. So the battery life isnt too bad but its dependant on what apps you have running and to a certain extent the firmware you are running.

Tonight im going to load up 353 firmware which is a leaked version ie not official and see how that pans out as ive heard some really good things about that version...ill give it about a week to bed in and if its no good, i might give 261 firmware a try as again people have said the battery life is pretty good...i think for the next few weeks ill be messing around with firmware/OS updates:p
