Blackberry 9900/9930

Anyone got a delayed email from Vodafone, saying

"Your Vodafone order has been delayed and won't be delivered as planned. We will send you another message with a new delivery date when your order is dispatched from our warehouse. If you have any questions please call 08700700191 quoting order reference O*********. Please accept our sincere apologies for the delay."

I recieved that twice and haven't recieved a new delivery date.

Phone them up and ask for one, they won't bite :) In other news, delayed until late september now on Orange. I seriously have no clue wtf is going on sorry.

Nothing directed to you personally Myshra. But christ, Orange really are digging there heals with this one.

Beginning to get on my **** now. Have they got YTS working on them or what?

No official update or nothing to there customers.

at this rate, by the time Orange get the 9900 out there will already be a newer BB on the market.

I'm not sure we send updates on delays or not sorry, never been on the other side as a buying customer for a long time now although I get to see the pain of being one a lot more than I'd like to :/ It's honestly pretty embarrassing that this has happened for so long with this handset now. @conorfromorange might have some better words on the situation but I don't sorry.

On the other side - it's a really nice handset. Think it's going to be tough for the torch to beat this one.

So, You, Blackberry owners. hows it going? just popping in from the darkside of the GS2 section.

how you finding the new 9900?

shh, dont tell them over there but im thinking of switching over.

i used to have a blackberry, back in the day of the little scrolling ball and loved it.

i then changed to an iphone. liked it but missed real keys. upgrade time came and Rim still hadnt released the 9900 so i got the GS2. still miss real keys.

i keep reading loads about the poor battery life. Can this really be true?

if any of you have come from the realms of the 9780 are you finding it a worthwhile upgrade?

i could do the old O2 trick and get it for £385 (over the 2 years) as mentioned before in here. but im just wondering whether i should just trade my GS2 for a 9780 + cash.

The 9780 is a mile away from this honestly (it's also a year old - you'd feel this compared to the SGS2), RIM manned up for once and sorted out BBOS and the hardware. Battery life is, in my opinion, roughly comparable to the SGS2. If you want to go back I'd try and play with one instore as a lot changed from the older BB series and while this is a good device, it's design goals are quite far away from the SGS2s.

Ive come from a 9780 and the difference is night and day,the 9780 doesnt even come close to the 9900...majority of bb users who have bought one or upgraded have said without a doubt this is the best bb device ever...ihappen to think the same as ive been using bb's since the original 9000 Bold.

No point in getting a 9780, its a lovely handset but not a patch on the 9900...battery life isnt as bad as some make it out to be...heavy useage i get a good days use...moderate to light i can get nearly 2 days but im a heavy user ie calls, texts, emails and bbm's.

Definitely try one out before buying if u really are interested...its an amazing device.

You should check out how AT&T have screwed their customers regarding the 9900 release...very very similar to Orange and their antics.

The only new bb's that are due out is the new touch curve and possibly the new successor to the 9780, which is the 9790...details are sketchy at the moment though.

Hope you Orange customers get the 9900 soon....its a sublime device.

So you're glad you got one in the end Spawn. Told you so! :p

Dude i was always planning to get one...im just pleased u got one and gave it the credit its due.

Me not getting the 9900 is like me not breathing for a few days:D

Now im judt waiting for the next gen BB devices to come out next yr...this will keep me going till the new QNX phones make their way out next yr.

nice, think im pretty set on getting one. im not worried about having a go on one first as i know what to expect from the blackberry way of doing things.

will go down the route someone mentioned earlier in the thread through o2. total 2yr cost of £385 (after quidco)

now onto the bank manager (wife) to see if she'll release the upfront fee's to be paid back upon sale of the s2.

Vodafone are USELESS, they seem to not care about new customers, First off i emailed them saying whats going on with my order and he said to ring, so i did, and he said after (25mins on the line) to email, then i instant messaged them where he said for me to wait till tommorow and if it doesnt come re-order the phone? Jesus christ, and none of them could find my order!

So what is so good about it? I have a 9700 and was thinking about going to the dark side of iPhone. Someone please sell me a 9900.

Buttons - obviously the 9900 wins here by a country mile.

Internet (browsing I assume) - iPhone wins by quite a margin although the difference isn't too dramatic as the 9900 is a big improvement.

Email - hard to say, BlackBerry's handle email very well but the iPhone isn't too shabby either, emails are certainly nicer to read on the iPhone 4, and will probably be even better on the iPhone 5 in a month or so. Same goes for web browsing.

Apps - iPhone by a country mile.

On top of that, the iPhone camera is considerably better (though the 9900 is quite fine in most situations), same goes for the HD video. The iPhone 4 edges the battery by quite a bit too I found.

I will admit, I find the iPhone keyboard excellent though I did enjoy using the physical one. My girlfriend wants the 9900 and I'll happily let her have it as I'll be getting the iPhone 5 which will no doubt suit me down to the ground just like the iPhone 4 does now.

Thanks. I might have a play with my mate's iPhone 4 but if I get one I'll wait for the 5. Much to my annoyance as calls on my BB keep failing.

Cheers!
