Blackberry 9900/9930

I find having mobile internet just generally handy for reading the news and catching up on sports scores etc. No more having to wait until I get home :)

Yeah that's the plan mainly, check the headlines & footie scores when I'm away from home, clear up the odd bet down the pub etc.

Does email access count towards the 500MB?

Email does count towards the 500mb data on Orange, however, if you are using a Blackberry, the data used is lower than other handsets as Blackberry are very good at streamlining the amount of data sent and received, as it travels through their servers, so for me, I'd say I'm a medium use kind a guy, I've never touched anywhere near the 500mb with a blackberry :)

CW told me the 18th today, and had a big argument over whether Vodafone Blackberry 45 is a plan that includes BIS. Unsurprisingly, it does.

I have to agree with that. It's old tech and phones are moving on. I'd rather get a dual core Android phone with much bigger screen and resolution for the same price.

The reason I am getting it? Because it has a real keyboard. Because it will have a battery that will last more than a day. Because it works infinitely better 'as a phone' than any android or iOS device, and that's what I use my phone as, a phone. Because it doesn't require fiddling for ages to make everything work nicely and happily. Because it has BBM. The main part is the fact that it works well as a phone, rather than an app platform.

If Motorola had launched the Milestone 3 over here I would've contemplated staying with android, but alas, the only keyboard option is the Desire Z, which is old now, and after 12 months will be well out of date. This will not.

Yeah what I do like about Blackberries is how good they are at mobile communication; be it phone, SMS, IM or email. My only issue with them is I just could never get on with the portrait keyboard, I had the same issue with the Pre as well. I don't have big fingers but just really struggled with the feel and location of the keys, guess it could be that I didn't spend enough time with them as well.

The new Torch 9850 (I think?) which is completely touch controlled interests me quite a lot because I can get on fine with on screen keyboards. But I saw the SGS2 on a decent offer and decided it was too good to pass up.

I'll give you the hardware keyboard, but that's about the only advantage blackberries have these days for joe public. I had no regrets moving to an sgs2 from my old bb8900 and there is no way on earth any blackberry is infinitely better as a phone. in fact im struggling to think of any reason other than the keyboard.

Don't worry about the coming soon page, it is ;) Will also have the barclaycard contactless stuff if that's your sort of thing.

The price isn't pretty, I can't reveal for obvious reasons but I think it's bit overpriced. A re-sign of dol 35 for 24 months should secure it though.

I'm currently on Dolphin 20 but am looking to up it to 30 to include the BB data & email stuff - do you think I might get the phone for free on a 24 monther?

?It is overpriced i feel as well, talking about sim free prices they are around £500ish but thats without delivery..with del it can go up to £520ish...would have been better if they sold it at £400 as i dont think the phone is worth £500 tbqh....but meh ive spent £515 on mine as a little gift for myself:p

Honestly, I'm commenting in a very unofficial capacity and I can't be any more specific Big Chris - I don't want to get backtraced by conorfromorange. Giving away early figures is a good way to ensure a) the competition beat us b) I lose my job.

Spawn - yeah, this is exactly my problem. It's a nice device but £500 is a bit above the average for BBs and if you're going to do that then fine - but you best deliver on the device front to justify the extra price.
