Blackberry Playbook....

Thanks for the replies guys, I guess I just will have to wait and have a play around with these phones for myself, well overdue for an upgrade now.

On paper looks impressive! But the OS will determine the success of this and apps for those who are app hungry! Either way will see on release how this fairs, would go great with my 9700 but there will always be the iPad 2 a few months down the road...

RIM have released the battery specs for the playbook and have also announced that it will be available in 16gb, 32gb and a 64gb version.

The playbook will be carrying a 5300mah battery by the looks of it...dont know how that compares to the ipad but i imagine with RIM and their excellent battery life on their devices, this should be able to run pretty long with hard useage.

are they still calling it Playbook ? as there was talk of that name already being owned by another uk company.

it looks awesome though, i would like to give one a try.

LOL beat me to it...i watched a longer video of the one you posted above this morning and i have to say this thing looks better and better with each video of it being posted.

Definitely will plump for the 64gb version if and when its released...2011 cant come soon enough...the playbook looks utterly awesome, just hope the retail units will be just as good or better than the ones being shown now on the videos.

you mean on their low performance and small screened devices ?

doesnt mean anything when comparing it with a big power hungry tablet

Any idea of the price of it Spawn? Are we talking £400-600 or £1000+ :p

LOL its not an apple product;):p...probably around £400-£600 depending on what capacity you go for...although it could be cheaper.

Not sure if ill buy one from here as UK is a rip off...probably get one from N America as my brother travels a lot so can always pick me up one...he was going to get me an ipad back in August but in the end decided not to...best decision i made.

LOL low performance and small screens??...well that is true but then the devices that RIM churn out seem to do the job pretty well for most people.

Big power hungry tablet??...would that be the ipad your talking about??..7" isnt exactly that big, its smaller than the ipad for a start so why wouldnt the battery life be great on it??. As long as they get the power management right with the new QNX OS then i dont see a problem. 5300mah is a hefty battery in itself...so i would imagine that the battery life on the playbook would be as good as or near enough the ipad battery life.

With the SDK being built around Adobe AIR and Android Gingerbread probably being optimised for tablets we could see some great cross platform tablet apps being built. This is getting exciting.

There's a new browser demo for the playbook. Shame he didn't show pan/zoom speeds on big sites but it's looking good! Like the keyboard too...

Clearly iPad was running on a different WiFi network or had reduced bandwidth available :D lol

PlayBook looks promising but it's all about apps and the feel and touch of the iPad which makes it sell.

Looking forward to Apples response to this with iPad 2

Yeah, a bit unfair to compare it against the old 1st gen iPad.

I'm really hope RIM stick to their guns and concentrate on the business market. MS office for WP7 is surprisingly good to use on a largish touch screen, a fully featured office suite running on this would be awesome. Forget the games and time wasting apps please RIM! :p

Thats about the only good thing about the ipad, the apps...i find it far too big for my liking and the screen res sucks balls in all honesty....you would think that they would have used a higher screen res on the ipad.

Im also looking forward to seeing what apple do with the next ipad gen...but sadly having no flash is an instant fail for me.

Playbook looks good...im really hoping they dont rush the release although id love to get one in my hands to play with but id rather RIM polish the OS and get it right rather than rushing it out and then trying to fix the issues.
