one thing i know ipads stuck on the dash are just horrible. I cant believe they have done this with the 5 series
A lot of people (inc me) get/have got their M135/140/234/240 from here as 'TRL' aka Tony Lewis gives really good deals and all i hear is good things about customer service.
I guess one salesman can ruin the experience though!

Did you shift the box to sport mode, assuming the M5 has that?
It's really not that bad once you're in there. You forget about it as the rest of the interior is sublime.

Mine's not an F10 but the functionality is basically the same (assuming you have pro nav). Mine's either in my pocket or in the centre console cubby. As Fox says, you can control pretty much everything from the iDrive system and steering wheel controls.
The only thing where you don't get full control (with an iPhone) is the iBooks app. iDrive controls everything in the music playlist, Amazon music, Spotify etc, but iBooks only allows you to skip forwards/backwards, not select book/track. I think this is "fixed" in Apple CarPlay

iDrive still doesn't support anything other than basic track skipping etc with Google Play Music, is that right?
My phone also stays in my pocket, I don't like any of the mounts i've seen.
idrive works 90% of the time with Apple music and playlists, I found it wasn't so good with amazon music (no track listing) and I don't have spotify.
It won't however start a podcast which is quite odd in that it did on my last one but this one is missing the icon...
The centre console mount thing is a waste of time as it takes so long for bmw to bring out the adaptors.

It amazes me that my friends 14 plate 4 series doesn't have bluetooth audio streaming for music.

This, there isn't much you can't do from iDrive. I've never needed to take my phone out for something that can't wait, like texting
