BMW and M Power Owners

I'd be on the phone to the garage, you didn't have to take it to them for repairs and it's been nearly a month now. I'd personally want them to at least offer someone to pick you up so you could get a car whilst the repairs were finished.

Being without the car for so long already have you not considered putting it into another garage?

It's currently without a steering rack so it's not going anywhere unfortunately

I'm going to give them until Monday when he's hopefully back in, if nothing is happening then I'll start getting arsey. I get that as a fault claim, I have to compromise to a degree, but this is taking the mickey a bit

Why do you? BMW are going to give your insurance company a big bill. If they were giving you a big bill directly, it wouldn't be any different - they're not doing you a favour are they, unless I've missed something?

Older model Z4? If so that's*something*you should pretty much expect to happen in your ownership if the water channels have not been kept clear for its*whole life.

Yup.. go on z4 forums a few members can relocate it to the boot so you don't get the issue again. It's not that expensive to fix anymore and can be done for under 800 with refurbished motor

Its alright if you get a new motor and*just check the channels every few washes. Will easily last a few years, just that most are now 10~ years old in our*very wet country.

I'm surprised that in my 4*years of owning Z4's*now its yet to happen to me.

Probably, only had it for a year and a bit, just been issues after issues with mine unfortunately, Luck of the draw and I lucked out.

The bushes need replacing
Oil leak, Mechanic suspects its the Valve Cover
Atrocious Interior quality (Rattles & Squeaks)
Roof Motor packed in.

Each of them expensive to fix, so I might just offer the car up for £2500 and let someone who's competent with the ol spanner have it as a project car or something.

I don't have 800 to spend.....ever xD

Depends if*you enjoy it or not even with the issues. The motor is just an age thing that's got a decent chances of going wrong on these now. Something I accepted when I was reading up*on them before I got my first Z4.

In my opinion you cant get a better roadster for the price/age.

Don't get me wrong, i've enjoyed every minute driving it, Roof down, Straight six singing, its glorious and it cost me £4500 for the pleasure, So for the money, it is a lot of car.

Picked up the M3 today. Had an epic drive home! :D As I mentioned earlier, the headlights had some condensation, which appears to be quite common. As it turned out, the lights were completely shot, failed the MOT, and had to be replaced for brand new ones! Result!

The hinged door bin on the drivers side has a couple of problems - an annoying rattle which I'll need to cure with a sticky felt pad or something. Also, I think there is some change rattling around in the door, underneath/below the bin. Does anyone know if they're easy to remove?

I find it amazing what people consider as "issues" which convince them to give up a car they love. A £20 valve cover gasket, a couple of bushes that need replacement and a few rattles from the interior can't be treated as "issue after issue".

The only thing that is an issue on your car is the roof motor failing, everything else is just a service item that a local mechanic would do in half a day for £150 all in. Even then the roof motor is only £175 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-roof-motor-NEW-/282326239779?.
