BMW and M Power Owners

Shall see if I can find a tidy N52 in budget, but honestly I think either will come as a big change over a 4 pot 1.6 turbo.

That, and I'd rather take a well looked after M52 engined car than a bottom of the market N52 engined

So my 540i has now been written off, but thankfully I have also been paid out a "fair" value (my biggest fear as values are everywhere...). Ended up settling on £5k cash and I keep the car, hopefully the bodyshop (after I trim down a few bits from the quote) should only be ~£1,200 or so. Unfortunately as the repair was appraised officially at £5,900 I couldn't keep the CAT-C marker off it :(

Only issue is the bodyshop couldn't fit me in for a little while, managed a cable tie repair to see me through as the courtesy Scirocco R has now gone back!

Yep

Independent value appraisal of £5.5k, retain salvage for 10%

It helped that when it happened and after (xmas day) there were only expensive dealer cars on the market, it was also near mint with a load of work done

What's it actually needing, wing, bumper and the arch liners etc? Doesn't look too bad at all if the bonnet and headlight are ok

Keep plenty of photos of it like this for when you sell it again (given how much these seem to be worth now)

Yeah, not too much damage at all really!

New wing, bumper, fog and grilles and potentially a slam bar (aluminium so not that strong).

Bonnet has some small dents/marks but will be repaired. Headlight lens has a small scuff but should buff out with no clips broken.

Undertray and arch liner were noted as damaged but will go again, the undertray is £450 and only around new so the old one will suffice but doesn't look damaged except at the leading edge which looks like a small different section so hopefully cheaper.

Going to get the other small marks around it sorted at the same time whilst the paint is mixed up and likely run it till it dies :)

You won't be getting an M52 in any Z4 - they were never fitted. The M54 revs as high as the N52 in 3.0L form and there's little in it in reality. I agree, find the best one in budget, or just go for the one you prefer the look of.

Good news Kiethton! I was going to suggest taking the purple car off the other chap's hands, but I see you're there already. Make it happen!

Yeah was a good chunk more than I paid for it 4 years ago...

Although there are now 2 others, both red and with similar miles @ £7k so maybe I could have got more...

Seems about the going rate at the moment for them, spec in spoiler.

How much did you pay for 4 years ago if you don't mind me asking? And what mileage was it on?

~£3k from BCA Blackbushe by the time transaction fees were added.

Also had a chunk (~£2.5k) invested in it for cosmetics and preventative maintainence on top of the £6k spent by the previous owner at Cooper BMW
