BMW and M Power Owners

I've come to the conclusion that RTTI is a bit crap, it only seems to want to direct you around motorways and major A roads. Google maps and Waze both have local routes in them and particularly around Birdlip actually help out whereas RTTI doggedly tries to keep me on the A417 which can be murder. I guess for longer journeys it would be fine but for my use not so much.

Completely agree about RTTI - its ok, but it's nowhere near as good as google maps especially on local routes. I've done quite a few journeys using both and google always has much more detailed traffic info, and much more accurate timings.

One of the main problems with RTTI is that if it thinks a route is busy and another is quiet, it will divert you to the quiet route. You then find that this diversion is actually as bad or worse, but RTTI had no info on it so assumed it was green.

It's annoying that a free smartphone app is better than the built in nav in a >£30k car.

I've actually been quite pleased with RTTI/Pro Nav so far. The biggest boon for Google maps is how well it will predict traffic, it has huge amounts of data on traffic flow for different times of day/week etc that BMW doesn't (yet) have or leverage.

I think in the years to come, most large manufactures will sign deals with Google/Apple to go beyond what Android Auto/Car Play currently offers.

Was in the dealer at lunch time and they had a (customer) 17 plate X5 in the car park. Had "Connected Drive" written on the black part of the windscreen where the rear view mirror fixes on with all the sensors.

Anyone know if this means it's something special, or is it just a new excuse for a logo when the car has something mundane like online services?

It's apps like twitter, facebook and all that crap as well as concierge services, adaptive cruise and a load of other options

My 2013 6 series has it. Same place.

I normally plug my iPhone in to use Spotify via the IDrive app, so CarPlay would be a good option for me. Just need apple / google to sort themselves out allow Google Maps work with CarPlay.

Does the Audi offering give you proper google maps with google's traffic info?

It's not proper proper Google maps, but it has street view, Google earth maps and does seem to redirect like Google maps does due to the data connection through the phone
Without the data it just uses normal Audi traffic which is a bit crappy

I still prefer Waze but when in dad's A8 we tend to just use the Google maps
You can even send destinations from your phone to the sat nav using mmi connect app

My search for my unicorn e38 hath ended, I've just put a £1k deposit on this (without seeing it and having a £6k offer rejected) at asking price.

1 owner from new 32 visit documented full BMW service history, just shy of 56k miles.

It's even got a heated steering wheel (after my derision of them in another thread!)

I'm sure some will think I'm mad, but,it's the right car for me, what I've hankered after the right one for years, this is it.

I'm going to view it when I return from my current holiday in Cyprus.

Brave...

I'm close to putting a deposit down for an X5. Cooper group offering me 2 years extra warranty for £849. This is under their own franchise cover. Something they've introduced in the last 3 months.

Claim it's more comprehensive than the bmw approved warranty and has the added advantage that I can go to any garage (non bmw) if required.

Thoughts? Experience?

I cant tell if this is a troll or not, that site is....amazing (in a bad way!) Anyone fancy a Mk1 MX5 for £13k, as well as the £6495 gold E38 with failed instrument display? :p

Indeed, it's one hell of a risk, but, knowing KGF and their stock this isn't a snotter by anybody's imagination and I'll be hard pressed to find an e38 of lower mileage or owners....

Its pristine and has wanted for nothing, in my minds eye it's what it is for the cost of a second hand fiesta...

I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh, the high Rez pictures the dealer has sent to me makes me think I won't be disappointed.

All I need to decide now is do I run this as my daily or keep the V70 (this e38 has a detachable tow bar which is the Volvo's primary function)

I hear you, but,it's a ~£100 fix.

I've been looking for a clean one for ages and I've seen plenty priced higher but turned out worse, I'm happy with it.

No troll, you know me and know how long I've wanted one.

How can it be more comprehensive than the BMW approved used warranty? It covers virtually the entire car.

It's much cheaper than the BMW offering 800 quid is at least half the price of the BMW equivalent but I'd want to see some documentation first..
