The 535i has launch control. So does my 530d.

This is true and whilst I know the 530d and 535i have launch control, scrutinize is also very aware that this is an M5 as he's been in it enough times so I'm just trolling the troll. Inside joke and all that

Talk about the most pointless feature in the world.. on a diesel 5 series. I'm not surprised @Django x2 thought it wasn't a thing.

Gonna make the call to specialist today, time for a Inspec 2, and i have a feeling the engine mount is worn either that or diff bushes...or....bushes of some sort

Have you tried it? If I floor it in sports mode with warm tyres they struggle with traction and the TC rains in the power.

In any case, prior to LCI, where people just mashed their foot into the floor and then released the brake, nothing would control the level of slip and spin. With the actual LC function, and DSC completely off (counter intuitive), LC will manage the slip accordingly and upshift even in "S1" or Manual mode (in the case of the M5). You just hold on.....That works come rain or shine. You can see in the video above, despite having 32degree tyres and a good ambient temperature, the car still slips at the top of 1st gear, but it was all managed by LC
