BMW and M Power Owners

Anybody know if it's possible to reset the "top 50" playlist in media equipped cars? Nothing in the manual and google searches for it just bring back to the top 50 service lights to reset on a BMW...

Car is a 2013 E89 so CIC system if it makes any difference.

Cheers.

Went with this, you were both right, the ZHP knob is much better, thanks!

Glad you like it, it's a very worthy upgrade :)

Apparently,

The Car Information Computer can be reset by pressing the rotary push button (ON button) for 25 seconds. After 25 seconds, the control display becomes blank as a confirmation that the CIC is being restarted.

Indeed, had it a few days now and would make the change immediately if I ever had another Z4M. The throw feels a lot shorter and more precise and you can rest your arm on the arm rest so much easier, much more like my old MX5 which has the best gear change I have ever experienced.

Just wish there was a way to get the Z4M to handle more like an MX5!

I had found that, but assumed it would reset the entire system. So I'd lose all my settings regarding lights/nav/audio etc.

i need to replace the rear shocks and rubbers on my 2007 E92 330i. The dealer wants over £500 to do both sides. How much should i be looking at from an indy?

Would it be worth sticking with OEM parts?

Why would you go to a dealer for replacement shocks on a 10 year old car? I did the rear shocks and bump stop rubbers on my mum's 2009 E90 on the driveway using OEM Sachs shocks and Febi bump stops for £100 and 2 hours of my time from getting the tools out to putting them away. First side took 1hr30mins, second took 30mins.

If you can't do it yourself, a local garage will charge you £80ish in labour, still giving you a total saving of over £300.

As said above, Sachs are the OEM so look for them, also consider Bilstein B4s, they're an OEM alternative rather than uprated. I know for my Z4 the Sachs Sport shocks were very expensive, so much so that all 4 Bilstein cost less than just the two rear Sachs ones.

Meyle or Febi bump stops are both good quality and reasonably cheap.

Seems as simple a job as mine were too, a couple of bolts at the top and one at the bottom.

Would also suggest changing the top mounts at the same time, seeing as you're doing all of the work anyway, and I can't see an Indy charging more for doing it since they need to swap the old ones onto new shocks either way.

Assuming yours is an M-Sport the BMW part number will be 33526780081 which translates to Sachs part number 311 410.

Avaliable from carparts4less for a snip over £50 each.

The part number for the M-Sport "additional bumper" aka bump stop is 33536767335 which translates to Febi part number 36869, avaliable for £14 a pair from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bilstein-Absorber-Protection-Genuine-36869-G/

Had my dad's 535i GT up for sale for 2 weeks now and other than someone offering cash plus an A8 diesel or €8k under asking, not a sausage :(

It's not hugely overpriced, but you have to leave room to haggle. I guess I'm not massively surprised by the total lack of interest, but perhaps this is why people buy cars 'for the next person'... Even BMW weren't interested when we enquired a few months back.

There's a surprising amount of 520d/530d GTs over here, but I guess petrol is a big turn off for a lot of people. Shame, as it's an extremely capable, if underrated, car.

Fox - 550i GT? :D

I have a bit of a soft spot for the 5 GT, even if it does look like a snail. :p Probably because I know it's such a good car but everyone dislikes them.

What a find! I especially love the leopard print dash trim, gives it a real classy touch to compliment the understated elegance of black everything.

It's also reassuring that it will sail through its MOT, even if the seller doesn't have time to bring it into a garage.
