BMW and M Power Owners

It's a mightily impressive engine isn't it Robi? The best I've managed (on a run from Dewsbury to Milton Keynes) was 44.4mpg average from leaving the petrol station to arriving home. I agree with you completely, it's docile, quiet, refined and (incredibly) efficient when you're bimbling along but when you put your foot down it's offers incredible performance.

I use my car for the same purposes as you, lots of business miles up and down motorways and lots of average speed checks & speed cameras. Hardly a journey that lends itself to driving like a tool! I also have the view that my licence is crucial to my livelihood and I'd therefore rather hang on to it!

The 340i / M140i use the newer B58 engine that features a number of efficiency improvements and therefore should be slightly more economical.

Absolutely spot on.

Generally speaking I think the balance between performance, economy and all round usability for everyday driving is what makes the car ideally suited to so many people. A colleague said to me that 40 mpg after a long motorway run would make him feel sick (he drives a diesel 308 SW). He had no idea the M135i has a 3.0 turbocharged 320 bhp engine.

Will I ever get bored of the sound? No, of course not :D

So I've had the car for less than a week and unfortunately someone has already hit it while stationary in a car park. I left the hotel at 8:30am only to notice that the front left LED headlight has been pushed back into the car by about 1/3 of an inch. There is now a gap between the bumper and light. No damage to the bumper, skirting or headlight, so i'm not entirely sure how it happened? I took it to BMW Barons Watford and after a quick look under the bonnet, it's clear that the clip holding it in place has snapped. Obvious impact damage has forced the light back into the car. The light still works perfectly on all settings, so hopefully it's just the clip that needs replacing. Either way it looks like the bumper and skirting will need to come off to get access to the light? That'll cost a few quid in labour.

I've booked it into BMW for a check over this Friday :(

Gutting @Robi, but if it makes you feel any better mine was driven in to the back of when it was 3 weeks old! £1800 worth of work for a new bumper, new diffuser, number plate, number plate lights, clips, exhaust heat shield, impact bar, bumper bar, paint etc. Fortunately the damage was mostly cosmetic and the bolt-on sections designed to crumple under impact did their job properly so it was a case of remove the damaged stuff and bolt new bits on in their place. Still flipping annoying mind you! Hope it doesn't cost too much to get yours sorted.

I've just had another look at the damage; there appears to be a larger cap between the bonnet and front bumper around the light. There is also a noticeable gap between the bonnet and left side panel above the wheel arch. I'm going to speak to BMTec and Darren Wood before taking it over to BMW Williams on Friday, hopefully they should be able to give me an idea of the work involved.

Hotel CCTV couldn't see my car apparently :(

First off - ugliest car ever, congrats.

Not necessary.

Thanks for the replies regarding the warranty, I'll investigate further. I normally set money aside each month to cover any repair costs for cars and that's worked well in the past. However, I also recognise that with a more expensive car comes more expensive bills when something does go wrong.
