BMW and M Power Owners

Only plastic bits are the front wing faux grilles.

Window surrounds for example are metal (black), steering wheel insert is metal, radio knobs, idrive selector, gearstick are metal (black nickel). Think even the nav screen surround is metal.

This is on the 6 btw.

Morning all..

So I'm in the market for changing from my 2012 Mondeo. I do around 17k a year. This is a private purchase and will trade in the Mondeo. With 3 kids I need another large saloon type car so a 5 series is up at the top of my list.. Having never owned a BMW and knowing nothing about them could someone more knowledgeable than I check the spec on this for me

To me it hits the spot but I could be wrong, it is reasonably priced ?

Maybe I should drive a 520 first ?

It's very reasonably priced. The spec isn't amazing but it's got the pro nav and given the price is a worthy compromise.

I wonder why it's so cheap? You've probably noticed other cars for the same money are somewhat older.

Decided to take my e38 to work this morning, I'd spent the day yesterday cleaning the interior after my daughter decided to get in it wearing muddy wellies! but, on startup I got an immediate "Trans Failsafe Prog" message on the dashboard and the car was stuck in (I think) third gear, it drove fine although initially the radio wouldn't turn on and the near side mirror was pointed toward the ground, after a couple of miles the radio came back on (full blast without warning!) and the mirror resumed its correct position.

I'm 99% sure I've just drained the battery by having the doors open and interior lights on for a few hours, along with the radio as I recall a similar issue with my last e38 years back, these things do not like low battery voltage! - thing is I'm assuming it'll have logged and stored a fault code, should this be of concern? Do I get it read and cleared or just forget about it?

I'm going to remove the battery later and charge it overnight as I think it's relative lack of use and short trips hasn't helped with this situation.

F10 servicing costs...

I've just called for a price from Knights BMW to service my 63 plate F10 520d, it's on 75k miles now and has had 4 services previously.

£530/540ish - I was too shocked to take in the exact amount, once I heard it start with a 5 my head fell off.

Is this normal? I'll be calling around other dealers on my lunch break if I get chance but this just seems like an absurd amount for an oil service and filters (+ visual inspection).
Am I just behind the times, my 3.0i Z4's and E46 only ever cost arouod £340 for an inspection I!

Knights have quoted "about £830" for an inspection II on my e38 735i they were not interested in applying the value servicing discount and when I asked if they'd be wiling to service it at or near the rate for an e39 540i they flatly refused.

I was told off the record by a staff member that they are so busy they don't need to haggle prices for business.

Every other oil service is the bigger service including air and fuel filter.

Some dealers need reminding of this website.
