BMW and M Power Owners

Climate panel looks fine to me, and it looks like they finally got rid of that ridiculous manual vent temp control.

I agree, it is utterly pointless. Set the climate to the temperature you find comfortable and leave it, no need to touch it again, but then BMW do things that are seemingly baffling/annoying.

It really isn't pointless, it's very useful and I miss it every time I drive a car that doesn't have it. I don't see the issue, if it's too challenging you can leave it set in the centre and simply pretend it doesn't exist?

1, 2, 3 and 4 series have no Sync function for some bizarre reason but 5 series and up do. Hopefully the next generation cars will reinstate it.

Thankfully BMW climate control is good enough that it's basically set and forget so it's not a major issue.

OH's 218 has sync on the Climate control. Great for winding her up by turning it off and adjusting either side to different temps.

As I said, set the temperature you are comfortable with and you don't need to touch it again. I've set it in the centre and forgotten about it, so it is the very definition of pointless for me so hardly challenging. You obviously find it very useful for what reason I cannot fathom, perhaps you could tell me what for?

Because it allows you to temporarily override the set temperature and quickly get warm or cold air to the face - perhaps you've just been for a run and want a blast of cold air or whatever.

If it served no purpose why would it be there?

I like it as I use it for a quick blast of cold air when it's a bit stuffy or I'm trying to keep myself awake ;) haha It used to be good before dual zone just to get some cold on you while missus had her feet warm.

Do you really go for runs Fox?

I wouldn't say it's the best feature of a BMW interior, not by a long shot! I'd say active seat bolsters would be a contender.

Never used mine, if its hot then open the window. To be honest it looks a bit 1990s

Don't see different temperatures for every part of my body.

In other news. Finally getting a pair of rear tyres, MP4S for £520. Current had about 5mm when I bought the car and done 9000miles since Feb. Good time of year for new.

Evolve have a sale on the Primary Decats and stage 2 remap too. 450hp and 10% torque everywhere for £999 fitted. Tempting

I have never used the dial either in any of my BMWs, but equally there are many features in most cars which i do not use. Why would anyone be against an additional feature which you can just ignore if you cant see the point in it?

Each side has its own fan speed & on/off control and a single bottom row of buttons means the display can be made bigger.

The screen doesn't need to be bigger, it needs to show one line of data and fan speed(s). It's silly things like Max AC and Re-Circ, why are they opposite ends of the panel, and along with max demist and rear demist, these are central items that shouldn't be offset to one side. Each side should be ergonomically designed for the person changing that side. As a driver, I don't want to reach past the passenger controls to hit demist....

Remember, though, that's fine if your driving position is on the left....

Maybe it's just me....

Ok so its useful for menopausal women having hot flushes and thats probably it. As to its purpose perhaps ask BMW as they have seemingly removed it judging by Jonnycoupe's 520SE pics, perhaps they thought it was pointless too?

Does anyone know if the X5 or 6 series are due an upgrade next year?

Looking at daily driver ideas for next year, both of these were on my list (total opposites, I know!)

Saying that, I've tried a G30 and my business partner has a G11, just can't bring myself to like either of them sadly, both inside and out - Am I the only one?

It's one of the best features of most BMW cars really and only those who have never used it how it's been designed to be used will think it to be pointless.

Mine is always set to cold in all weather unless the roof is down and it's a bit nippy outside. Having the top windscreen and footwell vents blow your CC temp with the middle vents blowing cool air is a really comfortable and relaxing experience than all vents blowing the same temperature.

Toasty feet, comfy face and hands!
