BMW and M Power Owners

Did you try out the parking using the key?

Didnt have that key, just a normal hard button key fob

Makes you realise how poor a lot of the JLR products are doesnt it? Its a shame as i love the Land Rover brand :(

Indeed the lower volumes and the tech beneath the surface doesn’t help with that initial showroom appeal. With the approach of autonomy class leading dynamics are no longer relevant but it’s more about the tranquil santuary the cabin will need to offer.

The new Disco is good though like Velar, huge jump from the mess that is disco sport.

New A class seems to be moving the game on for premium brands right from the start of their models! Guess they have to with the other brands catching up.

Audi have done it for years. Their 1.8 had two pipes.

Genuinely surprised to read that!
I’d always assumed manufacturers these days just put a dummy pipe on lesser models as such -I always thought it daft that my old e38 728i had twin exhaust pipes yet my e39 528,530 and e36 328i didn’t despite being more or less the same engine configuration, my V8 735 has two, fair enough, but it seems needless (and adds extra expense when replacing the exhaust)

I’m surprised the bean counters allow it especially in this day and age, the e38 hails from arguably a completely different era with regard to build costs and the environmental impact of needless extras.

Yup, is crazy. As far back as at least 2001 they were doing it, possibly even before!

BMW were the last premium manufacturers to give in to fitting ridiculous exhausts to base models.

We've had Mercedes 2 litre diesels with huge pairs of rectangular exhausts for a while now.

I think the 2 series active tourer was the first crap engined model with an exhaust each side.

Strongly considering a 640d for my next motor, anything I should know? They seem well specced from the off, Adaptive Drive + Surround View would be awesome but not that fussed. Active cruise seems absurdly rare aswell?

Will most likely look at cars 12-14 up to about 50k miles, looking to spend 20-25k. Any particular years/specs/things to know?

Past mid-2013 they got the better infotainment system. You looking at a GC or standard coupe?

Normal 2-door preferably, I very very rarely have passengers and prefer the look of the 2 door by a lot. Would pre 2013 still have USB App support, Spotify etc.?

I don't think so but not 100% as I never use it or have tried to on mine. I just shoved in a 128gb memory card and away I went!

What's your thoughts overall on yours? I do ~15kpa now, 20 miles each way A-Road + dual carriageway commute. Currently in a leased 330e, due back in June. Would love a hybrid/electric again but the deals just aren't there anymore so considering a change to the devils fuel :(.

It's great! I have the GC rather than 2 door so handling passengers is a bit easier. Boot is gigantic! Complete pain in the backside to find a parking space that can take it though.

You don't know that it's a diesel. The engine is smooth, quiet and always has plenty of power. Quite frugal too! My average usage is 38mpg atm, on a nice motorway run though you're waaaay in to the 50s. Lights are fantastic. I love the HUD. Seats are comfy and very adjustable. Interior is honestly the nicest of any car I sat in.

Tyres are expensive. Brakes are expensive. Other parts are expensive (BMW wanted £400 for a piece of mirror glass alone). Takes forever to wash! Passenger seat is renowned for rattling - this is due to the weight of the back section, can be cured by driving with the seatbelt connected.

just dumped a good amount on a m5 f10, huge spec

a big one is carbon brakes :D that pleases me greatly

will get pics as soon as i get them

Didn't you just buy a clio? Or are you keeping that too
Yeah that’s a track toy this is somthing to run for fast road and odd track day

Tw fox yeah, had my last one 6 months I think I never gave the car the credit it deserves, went back to what I thought I liked supercharged rs4 but it was to much faff to drive now I have a l332 Range Rover, m5 f10, smax for family and tip runs and Clio for track.

Fun fun
