BMW and M Power Owners

They do look mahoosive! 535i is now on my list, along with 340i and A4 Avant 252 quattro.

I don't do a lot of miles (6-7k) but I like to enjoy the ones I do. Fancy a bit of luxury after the ST too.

That's what drew me to the 340i in the first place. Decent petrol engined 5 series' seem to very rare whereas they're relatively common in the 3 series.

The 2010+ X3, is this just a facelift or is it a new model? Anyone on here with much experience with one? Any good? Any bad?

Looking to get a mid size SUV and one of these has popped onto the radar. Cheers

It is a new model, it replaced the original X3 in late 2010. It is based on the current 3 Series.

There are a lot of rubbish ones with crap spec around, so avoid those.

Yeah i learnt that lesson with the E93.

What do i need to look out for? Forgot what their trim gizmos etc are called. Also is the autobox the one to go for? Quite fancy a auto next.

Advice please:

I have a 57 E92 330i. I do less than 3000 miles a year. my last 3 MOTs have all be around 2500 miles apart.

I took out BMW warranty when i got the car and with some of the work that has been done am probably in the positive with costs.

The car has micro filter and one of the brake services (cant remember which) as due, taking it to BMW will be £250+ish??

The car currently has a full service history with BMW, is it worth maintaining this?

If i don't go to BMW for servicing can it effect and warranty claims i could have in the future?

Thanks,

If your under BMW’s warranty I’d imagine your far less likely to have any warranty disputes if it’s maintained by BMW themselves, given your annual mileage your not exactly going to be getting many services anyway.

I’m keeping my e38 with BMW for servicing, to keep its full history and at least I’ll know it’s got genuine parts etc.

After phoning around for a few quotes locally, BMW works out about £150 more for an inspection 2 than an independent which to my mind isn’t a huge amount extra to maintain its history.

Done some reading, and it seems the Meyle HD rear top mounts I installed have a reputation for rattling. Much like the rattle that seemed to start just after I refreshed the suspension. Interesting...

OEM parts are now ordered and will be installed this weekend.

Is the 20d a good engine then? If i do go for the BMW i will aim for a 30d but as mentioned its a bit of a minefield with options so ill sacrifice the bigger engine if its gets me a nice soecced model. Cheers

The 3 litre engine is more reliable, more refined and simply better.

What is your budget? £15-20k should get a nice 30d and keep you well clear of the crap ones.
