BMW and M Power Owners

Are these new humongous grilles required due to the requirement of enhanced pedestrian crumple zones? They're bigger than the headlights :-\ at least it won't struggle with cooling, I guess...

So spoke to insurers, they spoke to recovery place and the recovery spot reckon it will be total loss. They said the car was picked up mid way through being stripped!!!
All hearsay but sounds like the guys may have been caught which is at least one saving grace. Still waiting for Cambridgeshire police to call to confirm what the hell happened. The car is on police hold at the pound, presumably for investigation purposes.

Do you have GAP insurance?

Personally if it's been damaged, stripped and made a mess, I rather not have it back. It won't feel like your car anymore.

Quick question regarding extended warranty.

The 3 year factory warranty lapses in August this year and I'll be renewing with a comprehensive policy. I'm aware that BMW should send out a renewal letter around a month before it finishes, however am I right in thinking that the renewal price i.e. going from factory to extension, will be less than taking out a completely new policy via the website? As the car is still under factory warranty, it looks like the website is churning out a price as if I'm a new customer, rather than extending the current warranty. If I already had an extended warranty, I believe it should refuse to quote right?

Comprehensive with £100 excess and no emergency service comes in at £510.05.

Picked up my 440i. Absolutely love it. However, I can't get connected drive to work. The app sends a message (after I've manually entered the VIN) but it never appears in messages in iDrive. Any thoughts?

@Murf I couldn’t get that to work on mine either. In the end I googled connected drive, found an email and emailed them. Got a reply in German even though I had selected that I was in the uk. Replied stating the same in both English and translated German. Got another reply in German so repeated the above. Then forgot about it but eventually I got a reply from the uk team who asked for proof of ownership and set it all up from their end.

End to end the above took around 3 weeks and for me some of the apps still don’t work properly so I don’t use it.

Someone linked me an E60 545i, full BMW SH, full MOT, VGC etc... Thought "ooh I can insure/afford that" then I looked at the average maintenance/repair costs. :p

Decided that one BMW money pit is enough :( :D
